clear sidemarkers on ebay?
I am going to order my clear sidemarkers from ebay, but I am not sure which ones are better, there are some that are $40 and some that are $45 and they look slightly different... I think one has a more notable border around the lens & also one has vertical lines where the other has horizontal lines across the lens?
Anyone know which are better in terms of fit, quality, looks etc?
Thanks!

The first ones are the ones I have. I think they are better quality. Honestly I haven't seen the other ones but the ones I got was really good quality (as if OEM).

I have the second one. I think both quality is about the same. The big difference besides the surrounds is the first one you can clearly see the bulb, while the second one hides the bulb.

X3 and 2012 C coming soon
I seem to recall some folks complaining about the look and quality of the second set. I have the first which were first. Plus, the car in the first ad looks really good.

After 4 months of having the second ones on (smoked), I have had NO issues with them at all. No condensation, no chips, nothing. Mine are in great shape.
Both are pretty similar in price ($55.94 vs. $51.99 after shipping). I don't think you could go wrong with either choice.

yeah, truthfully, unless someone has BOTH sidemarkers on hand, you can't really say one is cheaper than the other. Sure I can say, my sidemarker looks like a cheap piece of plastic, and the grass is greener on the other side, but the other is also just a piece of plastic.
I'm still of the opinion that the material is pretty much the same in quality most likely. One is more opaque than the other and they have different surround styling. Can't go wrong with either one as the stock markers are a tumor.

I think the decision came down to my preference in hiding the look of the inner bulb. In this case, the second one was the one I went with. That being said, though, you can still see the bulb (albeit when viewed upclose).

p.s. Notice how I said "I think they are better quality", not "I know". It was my opinion, and I did not say for a fact that it was. Next time carefully read posts before posting offensive replies.

But I had an issue with one of the side marker lights, the tab at the top the is supposed to catch on to the backing plate was not formed properly and looked like a small glob of melted plastic, marker could not be used, as it would not catch, and would keep falling off.
I sent an email to the seller, explaining the defect, I didn't even have a picture to send, (no camera) all he asked was an address to mail the replacement marker to, which side, and he will have one shipped out asap, he did not have my address as a friend ordered them for me, so I sent him my address info, and in a weeks or so, the replacement marker arrived, and it was perfect.
Took me less than 15 minutes to install both markers now, and I am very pleased with the results, both sides are in and on tight, not loose, and seem to be flush all the way around, have been on for over two weeks now, and no issues at all, even using a high pressure wash at the coin-op did them no harm nor did they move
I am very happy with the ones I have....
Unless you have legal reasons, don't use the yellow bulbs, it looks funny, use the original bulbs from the car, it will keep the maker white when the lights come on.....
I bought the clear, and have a white C350,,,,,very sharp now....
I will try to get some pictures taken, and post, hopefully soon,,,I really do have to go and buy a digital camera.....
Cheers

The original bulbs were still too yellowy for my tastes. I'd replace the original bulbs and get super whites to get a more clear look. If it's too bright, then spray it with some silver paint.

I just bought mine from ebay 2 days ago and they came in today and I installed it this afternoon.( super fast delivery) I chose the second one because those look more like the original amber ones style and shape the car came with and I love it.. Just one problem I want white light bulbs but i cant seem to find any that arent blue coated ..Anyone know where i can buy bright white bulbs to match my xenon headlights (silver coated, something that wont show through the clear markers? ![Confused](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)

if you want it to light up orange just use the ones that came with your amber markers they are clear and hardly noticeable... I am using those for now.

Sorry I'm a bit confused here. I was going to buy a pair of white or smoked. When the lights are on, I want them to look white (but not picky if they are not super white, since I don't have p2 package). Are the ones that come in my car white?

yes the bulbs in the stock ones should be clear/white, the marker is orange..
you will not get pure white from the stock bulb, it will be a bit on the yellowish side, as with all stock bulbs, but not orange or yellow
I am not picky, and don't need super white, so my stock bulbs work just fine,,,,well for now.....maybe I change them one day...

I believe I got the same type you got.. I asked a friend that owns a shop if i could paint them he said they would burn out or get destroyed if I used a paint... What exact type of paint did you use?

you can't use generic paint. you need to use high temp resistant paint. My shop had some paint on hand specifically for stealthing bulbs which I did not only for the side marker, but also for the turn signals so I wouldn't have any egg yolk effect.
