Locking your car + beeping noise doesnt always work?

Has anyone noticed this?

1.) when unlocking doors w/ remote = 1 beep
2.) when locking doors w/ remote when all doors are shut = 3 beeps
3.) when locking doors w/ remote when any door/trunk is open = no beeps

The problem that i can not figure out is under scenario #3 above, the car will sometimes give me 3 beeps after all doors are eventually shut... BUT sometimes it does not give me any beeps.. even though the doors are locked!

Does anyone know why sometimes the delayed locking beeps happen & sometimes they dont?

I have noticed when it is the trunk, it beeps but when it is the doors it does not.

If your car is locked and you open the trunk with the fob, do whatever, then close the trunk, you again get the 3 beeps.

I think that until everything is closed, you don't get the 3 beeps. So, locking the car with the trunk open is considered an odd thing to do.

For myself, I mostly unlock the car, then open the trunk. I try to always have the car unlocked when the trunk is open because I have this "unnatural" fear of locking my keys in the trunk. Yeah, it's been done.

if you lock the car and then go and open the trunk via the handle not the fob, and throw the key in there, and try to close the trunk it will not....it will pop open right away....it was something my sales guy showed me, says you cannot lock your key fob in the trunk...

Have to try that - at home with the extra fob handy...just in case.

When I have the car locked (3 beeps), then decided to get something out of the trunk, press the fob trunk release button and close the trunk, the car will beep 3 times again.

there is a trunk latch, handle that u use on the outside of the trunk, you will find it where the license plate lights are located, there is also a keyhole there as well

it might work if u use the fob as well, but that I have not tried, open the trunk using the fob, throw it in, and try to close the trunk...

have your spare handy, just in case, but have it far away enough so it does not act as the unlocking mechanism

no use the latch, it will open if you have the fob with you, then throw the fob in the trunk and close the trunk, it will not latch but will pop open right away, on it's own...

Sorry I keep forgetting the US guys don't have the keyless go option, as do us Canadians.....

So unless you have keyless go and are in Canada, I will say it might not work for you, and your key might end up being locked in your trunk....

I guess that means for the US models, your doors don't unlock as you grab the door handle either, as long as you have the fob within 3 feet of the car, or should I say 1 meter....and lock as you press with your finger the small indent on the door handle as your leaving the car....

we get the small perks, you guys get the lower cost....I guess its a trade off....

Sorry about getting a bit off topic.....

the thing is...its not like keyless go is standard in your cars. its an option that you have to pay extra for.

in the US, even if we wanted to pay extra for it, we couldnt even get it. its so stupid, because some people are actually willing to pay for it. so really, the price difference between US and Canada isnt justified by the keyless go since you still have to pay extra for it on top of the inflated base price

anywhoo, yeh it probably wont work since the car doesnt have the key proximaty features. im a bit jealous, i have to say
