Jacking points conpatability pieces.
Someone earlier on this forum mentioned that they had manufactured four jacking point pieces that made their lifting trolley ? jack compatable with their C Class jacking points. I cannot seem to find the post so would be grateful it they could post again with all the details & perhaps the photo.

I usually place a flat 1/2" thick stainless steel plate on top of my jack saddle before lifting. Are you telling me that the those tabs that protrude from the lifting point are too soft and will deform even against a flat plate? And that the only way to do this is to get one of these adpaters?

in my haste putting my front wheel back on a few days ago, I forgot my jack pad tool in the undercarriage of the car. I have driven HUNDREDS of miles since and was shocked to find it still locked into the car this afternoon. this and the wheel alignment tool should be in anyones truck that is a do-it-yourselfer.

Am I missing something or is this a case of overengineering by MB? I have had 14 different vehicles in my life and this is a first for me...

Like everything else, its good and bad. With the proper jack or saddle adapter, the lift point is very stable and secure and if you use it properly, very safe and it won't damage anything.
On the flipside, you need the adapter and if you take the car to a shop other then the dealer, they can screw things up badly.

"reverse Logic" certainly seems an apt decription - why have such a unique jacking point design? What happens when someone takes their car to an independent service garage? Doubtful that every garage has these adapter devices - so there must be a lot of damage lift points out there.

I have four of the jackpads from Fred Gwinn [Reverse Logic] - in fact, he made his first W204 pads for me back in Aug of '07. Went to the trouble of going to his local dealer to do the measurements, sent me the first prototype, etc.
When the car is at home in the condo garage, it's usually jacked up at all four corners using cheap Wal-Mart floor jacks, and the pads from Fred. This prevents tire flat-spotting when it would otherwise sit for days at a time, which is often the case in the winter around here [we can walk to most everything we need, so the car only goes out when the weather's nice]. On our W203, I had used four small cut blocks of wood, which worked but eventually wore out - I contacted him about his product when it came time to do something for the new car.
After a recent tire rotation, I too drove off with the pads attached, drove for 15 miles, and returned home to discover them all there, still hanging on. After smacking my forehead, I silently thanked Fred for his design and workmanship.

You can also just jack the car up from the center in front by using the engine cradle jacking point(lifts the front end evenly) or for the rear just put the jack under the rear differential(make sure not to jack up on the rear cover).
