And if your in the states the Canadian vehicle might not meet the emission standards,,,,

I was very surprised by the simplicity of the key less go, for those who do have it, did you know you can pull the "push on/off button" from it's place and then you can use your fob....

I should post a pic of it, if no else has one handy on how it looks...

Are you sure this isn't standard everywhere? I thought it was. You cant lock/unlock the car with the key, but i'm pretty sure the smart key is standard. You just place the little start button cover over the ignition and you're set.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

OK, you are wrong.

You CAN unlock/lock the car with the blade key which will not shut off the alarm.

The so-called smart key is just remote lock/unlock just like a Ford, for example.

Keyless Go is not available on US model W204s. Blame MBUSA for that one.

Tell me about that little start button cover.

Yeah I know that, I just meant there's no comfort access system that will lock/unlock the doors with the key in a pocket, etc.

Oh, that's lame. I thought it had keyless go built in. Other MB models have a round silver cover that snaps on over the ignition and you just push it to start the car. Much like a BMW, Audi, Infiniti, Lexus...basically everyone. MB is late to the game on this one.

Keyless

Thanks for the excellent pictures. So, the little module on the back of the pushbutton is keyed to your car only, just like the regular keys and if the module dies, the key is the backup, I'm guessing.

How do you activate position one (the first click position using the key) when the button is push only?

push button once it's position 1, push again it's position 2, push again it turns it all off, if you put foot on brake and hold, and then push button it will start the car, with just the one push.

I still need the key with me, to start the car, can be in pocket.

Is the module coded to my car, I would assume so, not sure, have not tried it in any other car, but it would make sense, just like a key it usually only starts the car it was keyed for.

And there is a valet key in the key fob as well, for the trunk, so the car can remain locked and just allow access to the trunk.

The interior KG antenna should be at the front cluster, at the head unit area. It should "see" the key at a cup holder, even at your pocket reasonably well. Hopefully not a loose connector or something.

I assume you don't have any interfering devices in the car that would affect radio transmission at the KG operating frequency.

It sets off the car alarm. Siren. I used it one day when a kid I know (hyperactive disorder) was playing with his toy car near my C. I set off the alarm just as he was "zooming" his toy. Kid liked to jump a foot at that!

Ah, good fun!

The button is a toggle. Press it once to get attention, twice to turn it off.
