Can someone give me a link to the best type of 3M double tape to put spoiler on with?

I went to autozone and vons and the kind they had was really thick and only had 2 lb strength...

a direct link to a type that you guys commonly use would be a big help.

I just want to make sure I get a proven kind rather than experimenting myself with different widths and strengths for reinstalling my roof spoiler finally...

thanks for the help

3M Scotch "Super Heavy Duty" foam mounting tape is the good stuff; 5lb rating. The tape it self is grey with red peel-away. Looks like that's what oh cool sent the link for but also you should be able to get this at any hardware store like Home Depot.

Well I mean that totally depends upon the part. With my roof and rear spoiler I bought 1" width because it's all I could find and ended up cutting it down to 1/3" strips.

Hi maverickvii, I'm also thinking about adding roof and rear spoiler to my C300, do you mind telling where you get the spoilers? Ebay? Thx!

also you may wanna check out your local hobby shop. They use a high strength double side tape for R/C cars and planes. They call it servo tape, its made to last and a b*tch to remove.

We make a wide variety of VHB tapes at 3M. You might want to look at our web site http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3...cts/Prod_Apps/ to get an idea of how we vary the combinations of adhesives and core foams materials and calipers to tailor the tape to the application. Indoor/outdoor mounting tape is different from high performance acrylic meant to adhere exterior accessories. Depending on the base material you might even need to use our heat activated tape meant for rubber mouldings. Take a look at our PT1100 or thicker PT1500 for better stress distribution. If you're at a loss for a local source they are available online http://www.shop3m.com/?WT.mc_id=3MAu...lutionsCatalog. A good body shop supplier that carries 3M prod will also have many of our VHB tapes.

yeah, I cut it to strips to better fit the part so one strand is actually 2 or 3 strands cut up for more length.

I used the scotch super heavy duty, it worked better than the 3m (red) that I used in the past. I'm happy with it.

Scotch is 3M's top line brand. 3M's second tier brand is Highland. The actual tape type is designated by the descriptive name and number.

I ran out of the 3m red in the middle of a project, I couldn't find the 3m anywhere, so I went with the scotch, it worked better (to my surprise) I had both and they are definately different, and I'll be using the scotch super heavy duty....
