Washer Fluid Consumption

Does anyone find their C goes through an incredible amount of washer fluid?

I understand it hits the lights and mutiple sprays to the windshield, but it seems I fill it once a week!

I understand living in Toronto in the winter it is prone to usage but this seems high. I am wondering if I have a loose hose or something.

How long have you had your cars and milage on them. Hows the weather ?
I know I have used mine quite a bit in the last 3 weeks. I was thinking it sould be almost time to refill it. It really puts out alot of fluid, but I would rather have clear visibility then more washer fluid. lol

You know how the head lights spray every ten times you use the washer, well I saw a car driving past me and he was giving his car a spray and the car looked like it was giving it self a car wash! It looked kinda cool.

We have had our car since April and just went through the factory charge. We wanted to use the OEM fluid as we found it to perform better than any aftermarket fluid, something about the lubricity for the blades, yet excellent sudsing. Didn't care for the soapy smell that filled the cabin afterwards though...but it doesn't matter now, seems that the US has banned the import of this fluid and we must make do with the cheap blue alcohol/water mix.

BTW I do not know of a headlight washer option for the C class Is that a Canadian thing?

headlight washer is standard on all Canadian C300 and C350. and yes, they consume lots of washer fluid!!

I don't have the headlight washers, but I have been going thru a couple of gallons of fluid a month! I found that if you just tap the washers instead of holding it down that a lot of washer fluid goes on the windshield... Enough to clean it but not waste all of it!

Funny, I have had my C220 CDi for 5 months (it doesn't have the headlight washers) and I have not yet had to top-up the washer fluid. It seems to use just a short squirt to clear the glass really well. Very economical compared with my other cars.

i HATE the headlight washers, all its good for is spraying the hood and making a mess.

but yes i too am in the toronto area, and go thru washer fluid rather quickly. I find that my wipers seem to freeze with ice, making them useless sometimes, i wish they designed a heating element under the wipers to defrost any lingering ice.
