Poor quality with Mityvac 7201 Fluid Evacuator Plus for oil change

I bought Mityvac 7201 Fluid Evacuator from Amazon. The pump creates no vacuum at all. I could hear the sound of air leak at somewhere of a top area during pumping. It made only very slight suction on the tube from an oil pan while I pumped it many times. I just replaced an old filter with new one without changing oil. My palms became red and painful now. I was very dissatisfied with it. I may use another method. I open oil drain plug and drain engine oil out. Have anyone experienced it? And, what is part number for a drain plug washer?

Maybe I have no luck with it. Does your extractor start draining oil out after pumping ten times?

Maybe you forgot to close off that big valve on the top of the extractor?
It looks like a big rubber stopper with a metal lever that is used to close off the system so that it would create a vacumn.

I used mined for the first time a few months back and it worked fine.

Yes it did. Move the sliding valve at the side of pump to set suction. With couple of pumps suction can feel at the tip of tube. It suck out about 8 qts and stop automatically. Pour out and suck out remaining oil, before the end both air and oil pull into suction tube and stop.

Does anyone sell a simple electric pump to do this job, it seems it would be easier to pump it out and directly into recycling container(s).

Mine is still in its box. I purchased it about a month ago, but won't get to use it for another week. Hopefully it is has a proper vacuum seal.

Although I sealed the rubber stopper by latching a metal lever down, it did not work.

Based on your experience, mine is defective one. I asked Amazon to replace it with new one. I hope to get good one like yours. Thank you for the reply.

SilverGray...you may have received a bad one then.

Don't give up yet...and with the replacement... hopefully you will have better luck.
When working properly... it does suck the oil up pretty good..a little slow but it is very effective. The first time I did the extractor method, I was able to get more old oil out then the drainning method which I had been doing on my w210 for over 9 years.
This extraction method saves me the trouble of getting under neath the car...and the mess.
