I know that MENA(Middle East and North Africa) has all the same specs. I don't know about south.

May car is German built/manufactured :s

Though the dealer here has chosen weird kinda standard options, like wipers with rain sensors and here we hardly have 20 days of rain out of 365, rest its all sunny and dusty as its just a desert. And look ordering specific options in a new car takes 6 months to deliver. :p

LOL - Do they sell the Asian Camry as a Lexus in the US ???? You gotta be joking - I rest my case - only way they can charge enough is to rebrand

Camrys for the US are built here and they are a mass market car. All Lexus models come from Japan and most of their dealerships are very upscale. You can equip a Camry almost like a Lexus ES but when resale time comes, there is a big difference in value.

And, Lexus service is about the same as a good MB dealer whereas Toyota dealer service is, let's say, not what we are accustomed to.

Personal experience.

Thanks - OK so this comment by Devastator is wrong "This is the Lexus LS... "

And it's very much a Toyota see badging on SW. This is pre facelift in Asia

Every Camry I've seen in a showroom in the US has had a pretty basic interior same as Australia. Every one I've hired from the small independents like Advantage has been similarly basic but maybe the Rental companies only support the base models for cost reasons.

I have not lived in America since 2001 though visited our HQ in San Ramon many times per year.

I kinda like these new mirrors. I will be picking up my 2009 C300 probably next or next next week. Wondering if it will come with these or the normal fat mirrors.

Yes, he was wrong. That is nothing even close to the Lexus LS.

Btw..the US Camry interior looks exactly like your picture. We have leather and wood too. I have no idea what you're talking about. All our Camrys arent strippers.

OK so they vary - I was just noting the comment of a Camry owner above making a comparison with a model in Taiwan. My experience has been the same as his.

Thats IMO. I dont see any other reason why US should get less options.
mostly agree with this reason but i think its also due to the extreme safety inspetctions/test the US makes the autocar makers go thorough so they figure why bother? Thats just my .02 cents but i know thats a fact with imports from japan.

Are these mirrors supposed to be smaller heightwise? I am begining to dislike my Dumbo mirrors when I park next to my friend's E90 M3.

Those mirrors were on our Rented 2009 CLS we had in August of 09 in London.

The picture of the asian Camry interior is the same as what is in my car, but i have the NAVI option.

And you are correct, that Asian Camry is NOT the new US Lexus LS, the LS seems to be have build on a completely new platform that doesnt coincide with any Toyota US car.

Glynn, this is a little off topic here but can you enlighten "neero" on the thread topic of locking rear doors as he is from Midrand and obviously has a SA spec C200.

Cheers

Just jumped in a 2010 loaner and most everything felt pretty much the same as my 08 with the exception of how small the new side mirrors are. I was really surprised at how much less area can be viewed with the new mirrors. I know they are reported to be a bit quieter but do any of you guys that have switced to the new style, miss your old mirrors...or at least the bigger coverage area?

The mirror glasses are precisely the same size except for a 1/4 inch spot at the upper inner corner.

I have held the old and new mirror glasses face to face in my own hands. We have been through this before.

You have the hard evidence - the rest is like "how large is the moon". A matter of perception with no direct reference.

I don't doubt your measurements of the actual mirror dimensions. What you seem to be unable to acknowledge is that 1/4 inch of mirror can actally increase one's field of vision. The increased size helps reduce the blind spot directly behind each side of the vehicle...think of a motorcycle rider, close up in the left or right track. You can see his head over the vehicles tumblehome without having to set your side mirrors to high.

Yes, and my perception is I can see more area in what once was my blind spot. If you need a reference, simple ray divergence mathmatics shows that a 1/4" addition to the mirror will grow exponentially and end up with several square meters of visual coverage by the time you clear a couple meters past the rear of the vehicle...even more so with the convex properties of passenger side mirrors.

Yes - I understand. Our 350 has the old mirrors - When driving the new one I can't say I even noticed. Probably because I mainly drive my trusty 240 while the lady of the home uses the 350 as her commuter.

False, my car with the same package options here in Germany without VAT is 48,000 euros which is about $67,000, about $18,000 above the US sticker price. Though the packages include additional features not available on US models.
