How much should I get this C300 for?

Just wanted to know how much I should haggle for this car.
I live in Southern California/Los Angeles area.

I own a W203, and my wife wants a C class also.
Ya, I know it's kinda odd to have 2 C classes in the garage, but I plan to upgrade to a E or CLS in the future..

Her Toyota Corolla is about to bite the dust @ 154k miles... and we have to act quick if we want the 1.9% APR special this month.

Can you give us some advice on the car we are looking at?

C300 Sports Sedan
Automatic
Metallic Silver Gray
18" AMG wheels
Panorama Roof (wife loves it, I hate it)
Black Interior with Ash grey seats
Premium 2 package with Multimedia package/Command, and IPOD integration

MSRP is 45k...

but I want to get the car out of the door for 41-42K...

Is 41k too low? What did you guys pay for your cars?
I checked on KBB and they're quote says that invoice is around 42.

Thanks in advance.

People buy E class $4K below invoice, so I guess you should take at least $2k lower of invoice especially in South CA.

Go to carsdirect and price out the c300 with all the options you want..
Cross reference the same car w/ same option at edmunds just to be sure..
Usually, these 2 sites will give you a pretty accurate idea of the current market price..
They are also great at adjusting price if there are any manufacturer rebate or incentives..

i doubt it's an '08..the '10s are almost out. You actually think he's going to get a car that stickers for $45k for $33k ($12,000 off) out the door? You're crazy.

I'd say shoot for invoice or a couple grand under invoice in you're lucky + taxes, etc

I think OP wants 09 model and with the options he wanted, MSRP is indeed around $45k..
I think you should have a good chance of getting the car for $40k - $41k, if the car you want is already available on the lot, you maybe able to get it for around $39k to $40k..
Remember, there are no cash rebate or manufacturer's incentive RIGHT NOW from MBUSA for c-class..

It's possible that it's still an '08. My local dealer has a few 08's of various models. Right now in the showroom they have a 2008 CLK550 with basically every option. From $72k to $59k. Although, the price is much higher than the C350 mentioned in this thread. AT MOST, I'd be shocked to see them give it to you for $39k assuming it's an '08.

Yes, it's an 09 and the car is on the lot.
With all the talk about MHI and the 2010's right around the corner.. I think we may wait, but the 1.9% (full term) financing is hard to ignore.

I don't expect the dealer to go down to 40k. I think they may call us this week and see if we want it at 42k. Before we left, he said that he would be able to take off 3k off of MSRP.

Should we pull the trigger @ 42k?
My wife likes it, but thinks it's expensive and can't understand why MB charges for folding rear seats.
My reply.. Honey, this is a Mercedes.. not a Corolla

I think 3k off and 1.9% is great. Try for a little better, but if not I'd go for it.

carsdirect has this car for $41k..so I think that's what you should aim for..
I use 94538 for zip code and since you are also in bay area, same price should be good for you too..
if the dealership isn't willing to go down to $41k, why not just use carsdirect and have willing dealership contact you??
PS, if you are around San Jose and you want, I can give you info for the sales I know at Beshoff Motorcars..

Since you're looking at a E class for yourself anyway, wouldn't it make more sense to pass on the C to your wife and go ahead and get your E?

Once you figure out what you're likely to loose on your C on trade in, you could be using that money on the E.

Thanks, but I live in Southern California. I checked carsdirect and invoice was $42k. Not sure if the bay area would make a difference, but I would think Southern California is cheaper.
I think I'm going to aim for 41k..

JimPap, I agree. Too bad my wife doesn't. My car is paid off with 42k miles on it, but she thinks the W203 is fugly

O well, she works hard and is finishing up her masters this year. She really deserves a new car and not a hand me down.

I'm also torn between the CLS and E.. I'm going to wait to see how the new E class coupe looks before I consider an upgrade.

The new E class coupe does look like a pretty nice machine.

Somewhere along the way, I planned to keep my C300 for 7 years, then trade. Might be hard to do when the E coupe comes out.

Thanks to everybody that posted..

We purchased a 09 C350 today.
It's fully loaded with pano roof for 42.5 with 7yr/100k extended warranty.

It's not the best deal, but at 0.9 interest.. we are happy with our purchase.

No plans on upgrades to the W203, Im just going to trade up to a used CLS 55 or E class coupe.

Hopefully the new E Class coupe doesn't look like poop

It's sad, but my W203 is starting to look dated

Congrats, would love to see the full spec of the car...7yr/100k along is worth like $2,500 to $3,000...
Which dealer did you end up getting the car from??
