actually, that's what they told me here in edmonton too. I had to send email to MB Canada to get local dealer to apply firmware update.

Put the car key in Position 1 or 2 and on your Dash console, press and hold End call button + # + 1 all at same time. Keep them pressed for a few seconds and then you will see a new menu on your COMAND screen.
The go option 7 and again 7th and then look for "OFFROAD FUCNTION" or something and then change it from not installed to installed.
Now take the car key out and let the COMAND close. After 10 secs you can use the car key again to activate the COMAND and check out the new option "Compass"

do you need the updated MM with the audio fadeout option for this to work ? when i go into the eng menu under 7-7-10 it has "RIZ signal source" and i dont see an "offroad function" under 7-7...

I noticed a "Tail Gate Party" function in the Engineering menu, anyone have an idea what this is for?

I just went into the eng screen and # 7 and there is no Off Road function. I think maybe the US models do not have the same programming as the EU. The screen pics resemble the compass I had on my S550.

I finally figured it out..if enabled, you will see a Tail Gate option in sound settings under Logic7 on/off. When tail gate is enabled, it supplies rear subs/amps (if you have any in the trunk) with sound/power, and cabin speakers are then 'muted'.

I have the Audio Fade Out feature... ie, when I get a call the sound will be muted or on Nav when getting instructions, any music will fade out.

Well I have the compass options but it is Greyed out What i have is:
RIZ signal Source = Reverse Gear
NAVI Retrofit:
both are grayed out, so i guess i need the updated Comand HU software too. i will ask for it all on my next appointment.
Hmm, maybe once the update is done, my NAVI RETROFIT will be Enabled?
