Still have Reverse Delay?
Iwas so mad about this whole reverse delay thing and I was due for service A.
so, as I walked in to service, I complained and asked for any software update is available(transmission) and they said they will check it.
Once the service was over, they updated to new software and told me it would take couple of days to adjust.
It's been 2days and I no longer have huge delay.
It is sweet because when I used to reverse, because the gear would engage late after I rev the engine, it would scream "CLUNK" sound and the ar would try sprint to backward.
Well, the worry about gear box is no more!
IF you guys have same problem, take it to MB service and update the software. My car was 2009 buy the way(purchased on October 2008)
Good luck everyone.

I noticed this with my C300 rental. I was trying to parallel park on a hill and almost rolled forward into the car in front of me.

Good news, Benz are listening to customers when they do their software upgrades.
I'm sure it's common knowledge on this forum - but it's amazing how many Benz owners don't realise that Benz 5 & 7 (722.6 & 722.9) transmissions have two reverse gear ratio's.
Low ratio in S & high ratio in C - with the inherent throttle lag they can be a dog in reverse in C mode if you are in a hurry.

The car starts on second gear when on C mode and reversing, in S mode it starts on first reverse gear but changes to the second if needed. So it isn't slower in S-mode.

hi, my C280 (C300 to you) in Hong Kong also had the delay in engaging Reverse gear, and it was also clunky. It drove me mad when I tried to park in tight parking areas when I needed to use "D" and "R" many times.
Well finally the problem is fixed after two visits to the local Hong Kong dealer. Each time I gave them about 8 hours to do the job. The SA told me that the technicians had to f-king drive my car outside and plug in a laptop to re-program the whole transmission module (one guy driving and the second fiddling with the laptop), re-tuning each of the 7 forward gears and the reverse gear program. I don't know if I was taken for a ride since my car, when finished and fixed, was run for about 90km in total by the dealer.
I always thought re-programming was like a software update that could be done stationary inside the workshop

I had the car ECU for the throttle lag and TCU for the reverse delay updated today. I will check tomorrow and check how it is. I am waiting for the dealer to complete the allignment or centering the steering wheel.

Just a little update. My car's at the dealer right now to replace the noisy alternator and I mentioned the delay to the SA and they found a bulletin related to the delay, so they're reflashing the trans control unit with a new firmware to fix it. The car is an '09 C350.
