Now that Audi dropped a manual into the A5, that is currently my favorite. It would have been my choice if they would have done it a year earlier. Not too mention the manual with the sport and "Luxury" packages comes in under 45K and likely under 40K with the market like it is...love my C but God that car is sweet...

2008 Mercedes C300 4Matic
The 2010 Mercedes E-Class if you need a four-door sedan, or the 2010 E-Class Coupe if you don't. IMO these 2 cars are in a different ballpark compared to all the other cars on your list.

The new E Class is technically superior to everything mentioned here. Pity it's not the best looker & the US won't get the new engine until it makes decent fuel.
If you want a thoroughly boring, equally ugly, but highly competent vehicle - Buy a Lexus.

I never believe any VW power ratings until the car is in the showroom. Since you are not in the US, you'll likely have access to a higher hp VW. The US rarely get the good stuff from the VW factory. And, a little off topic, JD Power blew any chance of the faster shifting European DSG transmission making it into US cars. Apparenlty, according to JDP, people who buy GTIs or Rs in the US don't want the added exhaust noise had during quicker shifts. They must have no idea who actually buys those cars
Audi A5/S5 is one of the sexiest cars on the road. That would def be my #1 choice...would've gotten the A5 myself if I hadn't been over miles on my '07 C280 and needed to get out of the lease 5 mths early to avoid penalty fees
