DIY - License Plate Lights

This is a step by step guide to changing the license plate lights...

Tools:
Flat head screw driver
Torx screw driver

Steps:
1. You will need to remove the trunk lid cover, first of remove the plastic material. There will be 4 torx screws and 3 plastic fasteners.

2. Disconnect the auxiliary light power...

3. Now remove the rest of the trunk lid cover by taking off the remaining plastic fasteners.

4. Disconnect the power to the emergency trunk release...

5. At this point, you should have been able to remove the trunk lid cover... Now you can see the location of the license plate bulbs.

6. LEDs ... Woooooooooot!

7. Test to make sure you have the LEDs in the right way. Tuck everything in...

Decided to install LEDs for the trunk light as well

I'll try when I get a chance... Which bulbs did you go with on yours? If it's really that bright in person... Not sure if I would like it on my car A subtle white would suffice...

It looks really good in person. I used of one of those SMD but with resistors.

It should be noted that you don't really need to remove the trunk liner entirely. Just the first few plastic pins and you can peel it back enough to get to the bulb. Good write up though.

Yes sir... That is correct.

Should be enough room to maneuver, but I am super **** and paranoid that I don't want to bend the liner too much. Hence just decided to take it off.

yup, I'm in the second group buy already, but somebody said these leds weren't as bright so I'm only going with the eyelids. BTW, are yours 4300k? I wonder how it would look with 6000k led or maybe even 8000k

Thanks for this DIY.

Despite myself being non-technical and a general clutz, I was able to successfully swapped out my OE bulbs with the ones from GB #2.
