iPod Playlist Shuffle Issue

iPod Playlist Shuffle Issue
I have an iPod Nano (4GB) that I keep attached to the iPod interface in my glove box. I created a Playlist and set iPod shuffle setting to shuffle songs. When I play the Playlist in the car it plays them in the exact order on the Playlist and does not shuffle them. When I disconnect the iPod I see that the shuffle setting is set back to off.
The Playlist shuffles songs as it normally should when playing through headphones.
Anyone else have this issue…?

my ipod (6th gen) does the oposite sometimes:
it automatically switches shuffle on.
i have to switch it off on the ipod itself (can't do it via the car),
or otherwise it will shuffle anything i might choose via the steering wheel controls.
btw it's strange that you can play anything in shuffle mode (via wheel controls),
except for playlists...

Also,
Can we change songs from instrument cluster if we connect iPod to AUX jack in glove box?
I know but really dont wanted to start a new thread.

Only way I can get a playlist to shuffle is if I disconenct the iPod and then select shuffle songs and then start playing the playlist. Then connect iPod again and it will shuffle all songs in the playlist. Although, if you decide to switch and listen to a specific album\artist and then go back to the playlist... it will no longer shuffle.
I emailed MB support and I was told to use the iPod shuffle option... I told them they should read the issue before giving a response and might want to consider training the support staff better. I was then told to call the 800 number for further support.

I don't think you can because the AUX jack can be used for other sources of signal other than an iPod. I can only speak for the iPod Integration Kit since my car came with one and with the integration kit you can change songs from the instrument cluster. It's not a very good system. You control the iPod menus with the telephone buttons.
Also, I don't know how much your being in Dubai influences things. Most of us are talking about US spec cars.
Hope this helps.

Wht bull****?
Then the AUX jack should have not been in glove box that we could atleast change the songs from the ipod menu itself.
It means PLUG the ipod into AUX and listen to each and every song that ipod brings up because you have kept the ipod in glovebox.
Huh.

The issue is that there is no "shuffle" option under iPod Playlists using the steering wheel controls. I have explained the workaround but the system still sucks.
Trying to get amp installed by my MB dealer when I get me lic plates put on this week. Sound quality thru the iPod is terrible. The sound on my '08 GMC Yukon using the standard aux port with a $5 cable blows the MB away in sound quality.
