How do you remove the Bi Xenon bulbs????

Turns out that my bi xenon bulb wasn't burned out. Driver side low/high beam bi xenon is still dark.

I've got an appointment for Friday to leave my car so that they can get to something called the ignitor (ballast??) and other parts to get the light working.

The one thing that bothers me is that the tech had his finger all over the bi xenon bulb(burners). My understanding is that the oils from the fingers will shorten its life time. I'd like to remove them so that I can clean them with alcohol, but haven't been able to figure out how that little wire do lolly comes off.

Does anyone have a video or pictures of how exactly the retaining wire comes off of the bi xenon?

Thanks in advance.

Not enough space to swing a hammer.

Any other ideas?

At $200 per bulb, don't think so.

Ordinarily, I would be able to figure it out if I could get a good look at it. Its not rocket science. Problem is I can't get a good look at it.

On the e-class's equipped with active curve illumination, burned out bulbs require a whole new headlamp assembly - i had three replaced in 2 years!

wwmindy,

Sure hope that was under warranty.

I know the xenon burners come out because the tech did so. I couldn't tell how he did it is the problem.

Anybody know how they come out on a C300?

There was a post about it in another thread. It's 1 in the morning here and I'm just a tad too drowsy to find it. I'll try in the morning.

By the way, it turned out to be some kind of starter problem.
