2007 Hyundai Sonata Limited V6
Planning to buy C350 Sport

Hello everyone,

I just joined the Mercedes Forums and had a few questions about the car I want to buy. I had joined the other mercedes forums but they werent able to provide me with a good enough answer so I joined here as this seems more active. Currently I own a 2007 Hyundai Sonata Limited V6, and I am thinking of trading it in for a C350 Sport /w/ Premium Package. I also used to own an E55 AMG. I have an okay experience with the E55 but I had problems because I bought it used. Now my question is that how low can I bargain with the dealer? What have Canadian people paid for there cars? I owe some money on the Sonata aswell, approx $11k

Also will I notice a major difference between the Sonata and the C350 in terms of performance and luxury because the C350 is entry level and my Sonata also has leather seats, 237 HP V6, its basically fully loaded?

And my last question is that I am also looking at a Genesis 4.6 V8 /w/ Tech Package, how does this compare to the C350 Sport /w/ Premium Package. I know most buyers wont cross shop the two cars but I am doing it because both are in the same price range. Thanks alot guys, hope to get an answer from you soon

Its called "financing for 60 months" I can go trade the car in after 3 years, and 3 years have already passed so thats why i am getting a new car

are you looking at 09 or 10 c350? if it's 09, they've already completed their production run and you can get invoice price or less generally. 2010...maybe invoice, but will be hard.

The Genesis is actually a fairly solid car....especially the 3.8 coupe track edition.

o ok, I am looking to get an 09 because the 2010 is not much different except for the package adjustments. If the engine is DI or something, then I would go for 2010.

So If I was to make 6-7k on the Sonata and trade it in would the dealer negotiate the price down further. Basically I want to know how much a dealer can usually bring the price down from its MSRP lol

Im looking at the dealer to give me around $17,000 for it. The car only has 15,000 km (9320 miles) on it. It also is fully loaded model and I have actually put some mods on it, not engine (except K&N Filter) but exterior mods.

Im planning to buy because I dont feel good about giving $7000 for a lease and that money is gone after 3 years. I might lease if I can get some dealer discounts and get a monthly payment of $500/mth for 36 months though. What do you guys think? Is this possible?

From the OP's comments, I assume that he is from Canada... so the 2010 changes that AZN listed might not apply here.

A base C350 Sport (not 4Matic) goes for CA$48,200, frieght+PDI is approx $1795 (last I checked), plus gas tax, air tax, registration. So you're looking at around $51,000 plus GST/PST. In the GTA, look for around $2000 off MSRP.

Try APA to get a pre-negotiated price -- http://www.apa.ca

For the trade-in, your first post says you owe about $11K on the Sonata. The used 07's are selling for between $12K and $17K. So if you trade in, you may come out awash. Dealer will not give you $17K for it. Mods are subjective and may actually hurt your sale. Private sale may net you $2K to $3K after repaying your outstanding amt on your finance.

Hope this helps!

There is a MSRP thread going that might give you an idea of what you can negotiate.

Thanks alot for the info,

The basic mods I have on my car are Mudguards, Chrome Door Window Visors, Lip Spoiler, Chrome Rear Garnish, Chrome door handles, Rims, Factory HID Lights Installed and a V33 Emblem lol So its not anything crazy And then the very low km's of 15k

I am going this saturday to the dealer and I will try very hard to make him bring the price down. I just want my lease or finance amount to be $500.00/mth. For a lease I would want $0 down/36 moths and if I finance for 60 months I would trade my Sonata in.

Didnt want to hear that lol
I really dont want to get a slowpoke car, or one with stripped out features.
I emailed the dealer on friday and I told him I want to make $7k on the Sonata and use it towards a downpayment, and wanted to finance for $500/mth for 60 months and I told him I wanted the C63 AMG (I know, 100% highly unlikely :P). But he is like the C63 is going a bit optimistic but come on down and we will show you some other models you make like within this price range. The dealer probebly assumes I have very high hopes...
Lets see what happens guys

Man those 2010 C options look nice. I really wanted the backup cam but don't have anywhere near the ability to do it myself using those DIY's on the forum. Is this something that the dealer will be able to do going forward then? I've gotten quoted at places for putting one in, and it was like $1800 and up...which is way out of my price range.

won't even be possible for a c230, i have 3k down and paying $678 for a c300, a c230 with only the sport package was like $70 less a month only so for a c230, WITH 3k down you're looking at around $600/mnth with tax. BTW, i got 3k incentive

Are you financed or leased?
If I go for the financing option I would obviously put the Sonata down as the down payment, and then after that I would negotiate the price of the car. I dont know why I cant stand putting down a lot of money for a lease

btw whats a balloon payment? I heard it was like a lease only that you have to pay off the remaining money. I checked with MB Financial website and my price was much lower. If make a downpayment of 7k and dealer bargains down an additional 2-3k, is it possible to get my downpayment back after the 48 month term to go for another Mercedes Benz. Because after 48 months the cars value is listed at $27k something and I would have paid off 20k already?

this makes me want to stab someone at MBUSA headquarters. all these could've been offered right from the start, but NOOOOOO...they want to wait two damn years.

anyway...to topic. depends on how much the dealership is willing to give you for your Sonata as trade-in. you might still need to pay it off if they don't offer you enough.

huge difference in terms of luxury (features vs features)? no...unless you get the C350 loaded with bi-xenon, MM, etc packages which of course the Sonata won't have those. in terms of how it feels? yes. other than the Genesis, the MB C-class is still better built. The Genesis is really impressive.

performance? a major yes. the C350 is no Bimmer, but it's still worlds beyond in performance in every aspect vs the sonata.

Thanks for the info,
I am really trying to get the C350 with Premium Package so it will include everything And you are right, the Mercedes is probebly better built because its an entry level luxury sedan while the Sonata is a Mid-size car. I am looking to go for the balloon payment option if all else fails, after looking around this forum and seeing some of your cars it makes it really tempting

500$ a month might be a stretch... especially for a 350.

my 300 4matic + 17" amg rims + HK sound system is $730 per month... $0 down.

Leasing wise...dunno bout financing.
