1st gear starts -have you been able to get your car to 'not' start in 2nd (Automatic)
My 09 C350 has only 240 miles, in 'S' mode, unless I almost full out floor it off the line the car seems to start in 2nd gear off the line
Will the transmission eventually learn I want it to start out in first gear all of the time. Do I need to almost floor it for a specific amount of time to get it to start out in 1st ?
If you have accomplished this, how did you get it to behave this way ...
Thanks !!!

In S the car starts in 1st gear. In C the car starts in second gear, unless you floor or nearly floor it.
You sure you didn't confuse the two?
Either something is wrong with you or the car!

in S mode, the car becomes a 6 speed car and starts in first gear; in C mode, the car is a 2-7 gear car and only goes in first if you are at a very low speed and hit the gas on the second click. maybe its just that you want the feeling of the car pushing you in first gear, and the only way you feel teh power of first gear is when you are flooring it?? i dunno the situation so tahts my best guess

In C mode the trans starts out in second and upshifts at lower RPMs and all this is for low traction conditions such as snow or ice. A second higher geared reverse is used in C mode for the same reasons.

The transmission does NOT become a six-speed when S is selected. It starts in 1st and progresses normally through 7th at normal upshift RPMs.
