1st gear starts -have you been able to get your car to 'not' start in 2nd (Automatic)

A few different ones
1st gear starts -have you been able to get your car to 'not' start in 2nd (Automatic)

My 09 C350 has only 240 miles, in 'S' mode, unless I almost full out floor it off the line the car seems to start in 2nd gear off the line

Will the transmission eventually learn I want it to start out in first gear all of the time. Do I need to almost floor it for a specific amount of time to get it to start out in 1st ?

If you have accomplished this, how did you get it to behave this way ...

well i have an o8 C350, and i believe in the manual it says that when its in S mode it starts at 1st and when in C it starts at second..

In S the car starts in 1st gear. In C the car starts in second gear, unless you floor or nearly floor it.

You sure you didn't confuse the two?
Either something is wrong with you or the car!

in S mode, the car becomes a 6 speed car and starts in first gear; in C mode, the car is a 2-7 gear car and only goes in first if you are at a very low speed and hit the gas on the second click. maybe its just that you want the feeling of the car pushing you in first gear, and the only way you feel teh power of first gear is when you are flooring it?? i dunno the situation so tahts my best guess

The transmission does NOT become a six-speed when S is selected. It starts in 1st and progresses normally through 7th at normal upshift RPMs.

In C mode the trans starts out in second and upshifts at lower RPMs and all this is for low traction conditions such as snow or ice. A second higher geared reverse is used in C mode for the same reasons.

Mine starts in 1st gear as long as I'm in "S" mode. You can definitely feel a difference than the second gear starts in "C" mode.

Wait till 2000Km, then wait for 5000Km.Myne has now 15000Km, and I forgot things were slow at times.I am sure theres some programing related to early KM's.If still like that at 2000Km, theres probably something wrong.

I've heard that in S mode the car acts like a 6-speed.... u do NOT need that 7th gear to be at top speed; the car could almost fully handle the rpms in 5th gear going top speed(with limiter) and if you want to shift up you only need to go up to 6th.... research it. The 7th gear is only there for gas mileage and in S mode the car stays in the lowest gear it can to help give you the most HP through the RPM band, and even at top speed the car would rather be in 6th than 7th so you have more power being produced for accelerating or brake hp.

I am keeping my eye on the rpm's ... it sure seems like each easy going start is in 2nd gear ... even when at 3 to 5 mph roll, it definitely is in 2nd ...
