Another set of A and B coupons from SilverStar MB - LIC, NY: A-Service is $169 and B-Service is $349. I do not know if either of these are reasonable prices but you can judge for yourself.

Best deal is Foothill Mercedes
http://www.mbfoothill.com/foothill-r...pons/imageOnly
"A" service for $109.95
"B" service for $239.95
valid until Jan 31, 2011

Only difference between "A" and "B" is replacement of cabin filter. This is not absolutely necessary. You can replace it yourself for less.

Only additional item to consider is replacement of brake fluid every two years. This is not usually included in "B" service price.

Several dealers will price match if you bring in the ad from another dealer.

Any recent service specials out there? Our service B is coming up in about a month and our dealer says they'll match any other dealer's special, but he himself is not offering any.

EDIT: I just found this, valid until 9/30/2011:
http://www.montereymercedes.com/specials/service.htm

That 7-speed trans service at $419 still seems expensive though. Has anyone been able to get it done for less at an MB service dept?

glad to see this thread still going...

I found this one showing basic oil change for $119. The only other things Service A really does is replace the "dust filter" (I assume air filter?), top off fluids, and reset the service indicator... maybe they can do the reset for you anyway...

That Foothill Ranch special seems to be the best I've seen for Service A...

If that dealer is too far for you, contact your preferred dealer and ask them if they'll match a price.

^^THAT^^ is some good info right there... I am going in to an indy today for the transmission service, he quoted $350 and I was wondering how much is too much... So his price seems to be BETTER than the average indy, but I'm still going to print that coupon to see if he'll match it.

Thank you very much MB4tronic...
AND
Thankyou very much to steveb9771 for posting the Foothill Ranch info to begin with

My local dealer does the trans fluid/filter change for $299, and that is their regular price. See if your dealer will price match:

MB dealerships in my area have completely stopped giving specials to service A and B. All they have is lame specials like air conditioning service and tire deals that give you a GPS (which is straight from tirerack)

the more i thought about it, the more i realized that an oil change, reset service nag, and filter replacement was not a justifiable cost at the dealership. So i went to a local place that services European cars and they did it for $100. Even at that price i think its steep for an oil change. Anybody just go to Jiffy Lube for the oil and filter change and then do the rest themselves?

$100 is reasonable, IMO. Materials alone will cost you about $70-75, so that leaves $25 for labor. My local MB dealer actually charges $90 if all you want is a basic oil/filter change and not the whole Service A or B.

Jiffy Lube is not going to have proper 229.5 oil in stock, so you'd have to BYOB and BYOF probably, too. Then you'll have to watch their hands to make sure they actually used the materials you supplied and that they did the job right. Watch them struggle trying to get the underbelly off and lose half of your fasteners plus potentially strip the top of your oil filter housing. I've seen way to many horror stories to ever take a nice car to Jiffy Lube. The only car I'd ever take there would be a company car.

The Jiffy Lube "what if" would prevent me from ever going there....it was more of an open question. Prestige in Miami took care of my ML....they even washed it. Total price for service C was $110 and I was done in 90 minutes. My paranoid self made me check the oil dipstick and it was new oil....lol

Is there a detailed list anywhere that spells out what is included in the A and B services? (other than what is in post 133)

It seems that maybe the filter adds the 100$ to the B service?

My local dealer has a 299$ special on the B but says I can choose to not do the filter and it would be less.

Also wondering if the 7-speed tranny service needs to be done after 2+ years and 16K miles
