Audio 50 APS would also use the smaller display.

Ok , i finally get to the bottom of it for everyone who wants to fit a blower to a RHD vehicles. Below is the picture of the parts number A2048300808 for RHD. As you can see, this blower comes with addtional two components with a rigth angle tube and a bracket that will fit right next to the hard drive underneath the steering coloumn. No screw required, just snap it in. Bascially this is all we need plus the intake duct. Unfortunately i have bought the whole ducting set as per the EPC which is NOT required for RHD. The whole installation took me about 15mins..
This is where the air will come directly from the blower ie (MORE efficent for the LHD vehicle without the long ducting)

Interesting, I alwys thought that RHD cars would have the same ducting only mirrored.
looks like its alot easier to install a RHD fan system but find it a bit strange that the air isnt ducted upwards towards the HU fan air intake along its left side.

Me too, i thought that it would be mirrored. In fact, i always thought my local dealer doesn't know what he is talking about until today i found that he is right. Well, things aren't alwasy black and white and straight forward.

Hallo guys!
I just made an upgrade today from APS50 NAVI to COMAND APS NAVI system. I did not had to go to the MB Dealer for the new codes that are required the system is woking perfectly, maybe because it had already the APS50 NAVI system...I also did not installed the external blower... Do you think i will have problems in the future?
Thank for yor answers!

Which parts list are you referring to? This one did include the axial blower. Or which blower are you referring to?

I have all parts of Comand APS. Next week I think I will Install all compontents.
I have a question, for the EU cars? its the same code for a DVD Changer? must I replace it? I have Audio 20 in my car
ANd another question, did you fit the axial blower for the RHD cars in a LHD car? It works nicely? Because I think that the blower needs fresh air that comes in from the steering column space, and If we try to install this blower into the right (where the RHD cars have the steering column) its possible than it will not work correctly

Here I have installed the retrofit cable harness (blue arrow) , the two black and white cables are interior CAN cables to be connected in the CAN hub (yellow arrow) connect them anywhere in the hub, the red arrow is pointing to the ground point for the harness, the other end is routed to the forward SAM module,
The SAM module must be removed by loosening four torx screws, then pull the entire SAM unit up, then locate a large 14-pin pink connector, remove and disconnect the red/blue line placed in cavity 6, replace with retrofit harness wire, assemble in reverse order.
What is this step for?

What do you mean?, it describes how to connect the cable harness.

agree, that is why I did it too. The COMAND does get hot

It is not a direct swap, the 5" display uses a power harness that employs two connectors, the 7" display employs a single connector. If you intent to use your original harness, you will need to perform some surgery on the existing power harness to make it compatible with the 7" display. If you are going to use the entire retrofit harness then you are ok, becasue it is configured for the 7"display.

Yes they are, here is a visual look at the Audio 20 (Left) vs COMAND w/NAV (Right). This is a rear view vs rear view look.

Pages 10 - 19 have a good deal of information for any do it your selfers. It is good background information and would be a good read prior to using Vic's procedures, which are excellent!

Alright just to be sure am almost certain I am buying the Command via Ebay but I don't have to add any cables right? all cables that were used for the old HU will work with the new monitor and HU?
Sorry for asking so much
Thanks

You do not have to use a new wiring harness... it is sometime easier... Nuru (I believe) posted a wiring diagram of what you need to cut and splice on the Audio20 harness to make it work with the Nav COMAND.

Actually, it is manipulating the display power harness, so the 7" display will work on the Non-Nav harness. The Comand HU main connector will need to have add the power harness for the Axial Blower added to it, from the retorfit harness.
Vic is correct the retrofit harness is not expensive. Neither is the display data cable for the 7"monitor, you would need both.
