By the way, how long does it take to get this Retrofit completed? I'm not a technical person so I'm sure if I decide to do this, I'll struggle big time.
Any estimates on time?

Installation comand w204
Hi I am an Italian and I would like to install the Comand APS NTG4 on my W204. Now I have the standard Navigator APS 50 and want to know what are the steps I should take I respect those who do mount a standard Audio 20. I would also like to know which articles or just the pieces that I mount in my particular case. Thanks

The steps are the same VIC mentioned in the first page.
Here are the part list that you need:
A2048702851 Central air nozzle screen switch
A20483041549116 (black) Central air nozzle
A1234750120 Pad for GPS antenna
A2045409706 APS wiring harness
A2048321245 Air duct
A2048320645 Air duct
A2048320545 Air duct
A2048321045 Air duct
A2048300508 Axial fan
You can use your existing Screen harness so i didn't mentioned that in the part list.
And the Head Unit and the monitor....Works with any model or part number.I've bought mine from ebay.

Ok, before I do this I want to make sure I don't mess anything up. If I have a US car I order exactly all of the part numbers Vic has mentioned? I currently have the Audio 20 in my car.
How long does it take for a total install?

I heard that the installation of command in my case does not involve the stardiagnosis. Is that true? That is, once installed all the commands should already start?!

This is going to sound very dumb... But where can I buy these parts using the part numbers listed without going to my dealership? Every time I use the part number in websites that claim to sell OEM Mercedes products, the searches always come back negative... What gives, can anyone give me any tips. Is it only possible through a dealer?
Also, since I only have the P1 package now and Audio 20, what do I need to do to enable the screen to automatically open? I don't believe Vic covers this in the installation, is it even possible?

Removing the center air outlet, remove the two rubber dampers and insert MB special tools, its a small wire shaped like an "L" in the end, push in twist the tool 90 degrees and yank the air outlet straight out, disconnect connectors to lighting and center ESP and warning button.
A tool like this could easily be made by thick piano wire or by bending a clothes hanger.

or do you happen to know the part number?

I browsed these two websites for Comand parts and found neither one listing any Comand part. It would not help then trying different part numbers, it would not show up.

Installation of the H/W does not, but you may have to have the dealer upgrade to the latest S/W and to make sure everything is right. Also if you want the the IC to report NAV information, you will need a Dealer or someone else with a StarDiagnos (someone very experienced with working in the special menus) to turn on the NAV feature in the IC. Otherwise you will only get NAV data on your 7" screen.

Hmmm, I dunno, I think you need to remove the IC so that you can get the GPS retrofit installed. Unless you want to install the original on in the roof and run the cable.
