Replacing mirror housing tweeters.
The h/k 810 sound system has some better quality tweeters in the mirror housing, I ordered these tweeters and replaced the old ones in minutes and improved the audio quality.
Remove the grit by bending the upper part close to the window inwards, as you bend inwards lift up to release from the inner part, they should snap off easy.
The new tweeter
Comparison, cheap plastic membrane tweeter VS somewhat more expensive oil filled 1" soft dome tweeter.
Install in reverse order.

vic vipers, thanks for the great illustration..what's your impression of the upgraded tweeters vs original tweeters? how much is the cost?
I am going to ask my dealer on Monday to order the parts for me..hopefully they will be available..
btw, I thought HK Logic 7 comes w/ 12 speakers...your last post said there is an extra center speaker and 2 extra rear bass speaker..
that's only 11 though..??

I think it was worth it, the sound appears to be somewhat "fuller" in the mid and upper range.
I think they went for about $22 a piece here in Sweden.
@len56, you really seem to have a problem with Benzes not equipped the way you want, whats up with that
Full leather is an option as well as the memory package, but as my former car had full leather I didnt want it again, its hot at summer and cold in the winter, only advantage IMO is that it is easy to clean.

Yes, I meant that we get half fake leather/half fabric as standard and then can upgrade to only full leather, whereas you guys the whole seat in fake leather. No big deal, different regions have different base packages. You can always tailor it to your needs.
@ vv, again, nice DIY. Glad to know there is a distinct difference between the stock sound and the HK.

Of course I can, but I reckon itll be a lot cheaper for you if buy it in your own country due to freight costs.

A cost issue, sound system wast available with single CD, and I also would have to order CD changer if I wanted it, and as I was going to retrofit DVD changer I found it a bit unnecessary..

True - I think the UK only allows the H/K system with certain setups as well. You seem to be confident enough to play around with the electronic so good on you. I'd be scared sh*tless to take apart the car like you have.

I want to install tweeters too on my 2008 C350. But I have the standard stereo, w/0 HK system. Do you know what kind of tweeters I should get and what kind of harness? I also wouldn't mind increasing the bass level too.... I put in an entire aftermarket stereo system with two amps, subs, and speakers in my last car by myself. But it was a 1997 Mustang so it was very simple. I didin't have to worry about computers and such. My C350 is leased so I was hoping to get a self-powered sub that I can easily take out and install on my next car...tweeters, I'll just eat up the cost. Any suggestions?
