Painted Calipers?
Do you guys think it would look good on a C?
And what colour would you use with the white car? I would think red or blue...
Anybody done this? Pics?

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!!!! brembo brakes are HUGE!!!!
question 1. how much for those badboys? EDIT: found some online... i know you didn't pay $3000+... did you :\
question 2. how do you paint the original calipers and leave that "Mercedes Benz" writing?... it's so thin.

damn, those are nice, but I'm sticking with the stock silver AMG 18's, and they don't stand out much under the silver wheels... but then again, it looks like a nice, clean, not-to-show-offy effect
I'll need to find pics of other colours *searches*

A bit over $6k installed with custom paint. That $3k you found is only for the fronts or the rears. I got the full Gran Turismo kit.
After bead blasting, you're going to lose all finish and logo obviously, the Brembo or Mercedes logo, you can just get high temp resistant vinyl and place on before the clear coat goes on.

Powder coated....probably a couple hundred. Prices will vary by region. If you're unsure about what color to go with, you can always use some G2 Caliper paint and do it yourself to see how it looks. Reports vary, but I've seen some of that paint last a year, some more.

They said they could paint them with the high temp paint for about $140.
Thoughts? Should I look at someone else to get power coat quote from or paint? I have heard of painting lasting a long time, even from our sponsor at Tirerack.
I want to do my calipers, Black calipers, with the Mercedes-Benz logo in white or gray.

It never hurts to call around and get multiple quotes. I can't speak for what the price average is in Atlanta, but I've seen $2-300 for powdercoating in LA.

Did you really spend 6000 on brakes? Why didn't you at least get a c350? Anyone else wondering the same thing?

I couldn't justify spending that much on brakes no matter how nice they look. 2 Grand tops would be my acceptable limit. But if it makes yah happy then that's all that matters.

Cost of modding is all relative to everyone's personal situation. I'm fortunate to do well enough to do so, but when one gets down to it, you could make an argument, why did we all get expensive Mercedes instead of say a more affordable accord or camry? Don't tell me it's engineering....we bought it cause...we wanted an MB and we all do well enough do get one.

Huge wait list for C63 back then in early 08, needed a DD immediately and the 300 had plenty enough power for DD purposes. When I got these brakes, I had already decided to build it to a driven show car...if it was still a purely a DD, I wouldn't mod it at all. Plus I had just gotten a fat bonus

Are they worth $6000 though?

More like 1/6th :p
To me, yeah. Don't get me wrong, $6k is a decent chunk of change, but was disposable income. When modding, you can't just look at the final price though. You have to look at total cost of ownership. Car will probably be kept for 6 years. After which, I part out. I figure I can get $2-3k out of them, so in the end, they cost me $3-4k, like a lease. That's just dirty math not factoring $ depreciation or potential funds investment, but you get the idea.
To me it really changes the look of the car. Stopping power is great and all and it is easily noticeable, but it's more for aesthetics. To me, it's more worth it than getting a set of HREs or Klassens, or even a body kit at comparable prices which have no added safety bonus.
....................I've also got that LA/OC mentality embedded in me that style matters

Are these significantly better than $1-2000 brake systems painted white?
