New Door Pins Installed

I finally got my Brabus replica door pins installed. I had to mod the rear ones so that it would sit flush. (Thanks for the advice Ron Jr) Cutting and boring out the rear door pins took the most time. Installing was a breeze, although I did have to slightly pry open the rear panel to make sure the pins were nice and snug. I didn't use the air tube method because the pins ended up fitting perfectly and stays securely in place (I had to drill out the threads and left just enough room for the round tip to snugly fit in place).

Check out the pictures!

*BTW I don't care they're not real Brabus pins, I just wanted something other then the stock OEM pins and I wanted black pins. Since these arent real Brabus pins, I didn't see any HP gains, but my car does feel a bit faster on a straight line.

I can't figure out what MB was thinking with the OE pins the way they are. They are the most cheesy looking things I've seen in a car in a while. My 330i ZHP's go flush when locked like the Brabus ones above. When I first saw the way the pins looked when my wife brought her C350 home, I started laughing because it looks like something out of a 72 Vega. Now she is all self conscious about them. Hell, even just cutting them off and rounding them out at the top would be better. At least they would be flush when the door is locked but that whole sticking up 18 inches even when they are locked is ridiculous. Also, the front seat backs should have been taller so you don't see so much of the headrest "stilts" would have been nice. Or at least color them black instead of chrome so you don't notice them so much. It's the little things that count a lot sometimes.

thank you! like lickem says, it's the small things that count. I never thought about the pins before, but now that they're changed out, it stare at them all the time. =)

Do the Mercedes pins go flush when the door is locked or just the AMG ones?

If you put in flush door pins, how would the people in the back get out?
Other than the driver pressing the unlock button, of course.

People in the back can't unlock the doors themselves anyways. Everytime they pull the door lock it pops off.

I had success with the brushed aluminum ones on eBay, but only on the front.
I had to cut a bottom portion off with a Dremmel -- I think about 1/4" off.
This will not work with pins that are plasticized chrome, it will melt and/or deform.

For the rears after a number of failed attempts, I removed the pins totally and covered it with painted plugs to match the color and texture of the door.

I can't understand why MB even have them as they really do not serve a purpose.

do you need to open any door panels to get these pins installed?
