May wanna retake those measurements, because those do poke a lot. Granted it doesn't appear that your car is lowered, however I don't even think the added sub 1* of negative camber you generally get from a set of springs would push those inboard enough.

I need help

I've read through this entire thread and I'm still confused. Sorry, but bare with me and hopefully someone can help. I have a 2008 c300 sport 4matic. I bought brand new tires two days ago and the tire shop told me I have 17" all the way around. I'm guessing this means my tires are NOT staggered. He said it was because I drive a 4matic and staggered is typically for RWD? I have new tires on the stock rims and the car has been driving fine. I'm looking at purchasing rims but I would like to buy something that is the same all the way around so I can rotate my tires. So here are my questions...
Can someone tell me the exact measurements for rims the same size all the way around?

Seems like all the rims I see online are all staggered?

Can I lower my car if I buy rims that are the same all the way around?

Why is my 4matic not staggered like some others?

I feel so confused and now I'm not even sure if I have the right tires on my stock rims. A tire professional would know if rims are staggered or not right?

Thanks in advance.

4matic has the same rim ability as the RWD. There are people on this forum with 4matics that run staggered setups and people that don't. It's all personal opinion. Same with the RWD some opt for staggered some don't.

And it seems to me that you make be a little confused them saying you have 17's all around is normal, you want the same size right height wise all the way around. Staggered means the actual width of the rims are different. Like 8.5" front and 9.5" rear widths.

Edit: also for your rim question. When you are looking at rims it will say if it is a staggered wheel package or not. Most wheels these days come in different options for height like 17",18",19",20" and also staggered or non staggered

I called the place I want to order my rims from and they say Tbey would be able to do 19 all the way around same wheel option so I'm able to rotate my tires. What measurements should I ask for so I have the option to lower my car if I wanted to? Or does it have to be staggered enable for me to lower? I basically want to purchase the rims, put all the same tires on them and mount them on my car with no issues. Sorry if these questions are stupid I'm a newb and really have no clue at all with no one around to help except this forum lol. Last thing...what about lugs/bolts? I take it I will have to purchase new ones with after market rims? Anything else I will need to buy?

The place you want to get the wheels from should ask you the year make and model of your car so they will make sure it's the right offsets and just tell them you don't want staggered setup. So they will probably go with 8.5" wide wheels all the way around. As for the lugs ask them if they factory ones will work or if you need come seat lugs and most wheel places will include the proper set of lugs for no extra charge.

Rim weights?

I am currently shopping for a new set of rims and tires. A mechanic I spoke with said that if I go with a rim that weighs in different than the factory rim I could screw up my transmission and possible blow it out. Not something I'm interested in doing obviously.

Anyone ever heard of such a thing?
Does anyone know the weight on the factory 17" 14 spoke rim that comes standard on 09 C300 luxury 4Matic?

The rim I an interested in purchasing weighs 29lbs without tire.

Benzbabe1: a staggered setup means that the WIDTH of the wheels/tires varies from front to rear (usually wider in the back than the front), NOT the diameter. The tire shop is correct in stating that you should not run different DIAMETER tires on an AWD vehicle (this would cause major drivetrain issues).
Even if you do a staggered setup with the same rim diameter front/rear, you need to ensure that the overall diameter of the front tires is very close to the diameter of the rear tires.
To give an example: my 2008 c350 4matic came with staggered wheels/tires from mercedes (I believe the rears are 1" wider than the fronts and the overall diameter of the front tires is within 2% of the overall diameter of the rears)
Hope this helps you

Bs_Benz: this is the first time I have ever heard of this....
People change wheel/tire setups with varying weights all the time without issue.
Maybe what he means is that on an AWD vehicle you should have similar overall diameter front tires when compared to the rear (see my previous post).

I agree 1st time hearing of it myself. He said a customer of his put on 18" rims that were so light wheels would spin and it messed up the electronics in transmission and eventually snapped drive shaft. He even showed me transmission and shaft. I trust the guy but think it was a one in a million kinda thing.
One of my stipulations for getting new rims was that I didn't change the tire height so I wouldn't have to get the speedometer recalibrated. I like how the factory wheels fill the wheel well and I'd want my new rims to do the same with still having a decent size tire on the new rim. Oh and mine is the luxury model so it has all 4 same size rim and tire from factory. I think the sport model has the varying tire sizes.
Thanks for the reply, any other thoughts or anyone else have anything?

Thank you for clarifying everything! and everyone else who responded. What offset do all the tires need to be at? Will I experience any rubbing? And what is this weight restriction in lbs. that everyone keeps mentioning? I like these rims here (link attached). Will I be able to mount them on right away with no issues when I get them? I have read around that some people need to get special brakes and/or spacers?

Also is this the correct tire size for 19x8.5: 235/35/19

Thanks again and I apologize if this is getting repetitive.

Those are 19x8/9's. I wouldn't go too wide on the tire unless you are looking for a meaty sidewall. There's quite a few on here now that I have seen with those wheels, they are pretty conservative widths and offsets.

Most people do 225/255's on 8.5/9.5's so if you go much wider expect the tire to protrude from the wheel a bit. Which some people prefer for curbage protection. Personally I prefer just a tiny bit of inboard sidewall, I don't like square sidewall to the wheel lip.

C300 4Matic Sport Sedan
Hi W204 folk, quick question. '09 C300 4Matic Sport with 17X7.5 47ET(F) 17X8.5 ET58(R) stock now...picked up some Blizzak WS80 225/45R17s & would like to know if 17X8.25 ET34 would work without trouble? They came off of an 04 E320 - p/n: 81/4JX17H2 ET34. I calculated they will poke just under 1/2" vs. original tires, will this cause issues with rubbing or suspension?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

2010 Mercedes-Benz C300 4Matic
Hi All,

Just want to get some advice from you gurus.

I have a 2010 C300 4Matic. I want to mount the following tires and wheel sizes:
Front:
225/40ZR-18 | 18x8.5 ET 44

Rear
255/35ZR-18 | 18x9 ET 44

Please advise if the above setup will work fine.

I currently have the same tires but on different wheels: 18X8 F and 18x8.5 R. Are there going to be any issues with the new set up.

Thanks a lot for your help.

2010 Mercedes c250 4matic
hey guys i have a 300 sport with 17" stock, its a 2010 pre facelift sedan, i was planning on upgrade to AMG style rims 19" , they are 19x8.5 et45 front and 19x9.5 et45 rear, the guy recommends 235/35/19 rear and 255/30/19 front.

How would these wheels look they won't stick out to much or rub will they? or will that setup be the perfect fit for the 4matic?
