Help lowering my new '09 c300

thinking about lowering my '09 c300 with 18'' amg wheel, by just changing my springs, but without changing the shocks. is that a good idea? and is H&R a good spring to use?

if you are going to lower it, you should also purchase the shocks to go with the springs. Factory shocks won't support the lowered ride height for long and you'll have to end up replacing them soon thereafter. Might as well do it all in one shot

Lots of w204 owners have replaced just the springs and have had no trouble at all..some have been riding on them for well over a year.

Coil over kit is the way to go obv, but most people don't have the $$.. H&r are good springs, if u don't want to change ur shocks I would do a sport drop not a super sport.. And the damage to ur stock shocks won't happen for a couple years depends how much u drive! Good luck

If you have the sport, your OE shocks will handle the lower H&R or Eibachs for a long time. Obviously the it's best to get sport shcoks, but unfortunatley Brabus and Carlsson seem to have the only sets. At their prices, you're better off geting H&R coilovers (among the best options). If you just want to change the springs, Eibachs should work best with the OE shocks. In my experience, H&Rs work best with sport shocks.

Thank you guys for all the input, but what is the difference between coilers and the the springs? I dont wanna lower my car too much. I was thinking of lowering it by just 1 inch in the back and prolly 1.25 in the front.

Coilovers are springs over a matched set of shocks. You can adjust the height. coil springs just replace your OE springs. The lowering specs in H&R and Eibach springs are given for the lux model. Because the sport is lower, the aftermarket springs will not lower as much. I am not into the slammed or tucked look, so I think Eibachs and H&R sports are good. The H&R supersports will lower even more. If you search, you will find examples of H&R sports, supersports, Eibachs, and H&R and D2 coilovers.

Don't mean to hijack your thread Whiskerz but I've got the same question. Looking to lower my car on springs as well (luxury though. not sport)

Can anyone elaborate on what exactly the "damage" is to the shocks? Warranty void? Someone please explain for Whiskerz and I thanks!
