Am I getting a good deal?

Hi All,

I have a few offers from dealers for about 38k out the door for a 2009 new c350 with p2, multimedia pkg and 18 inch amg wheels. I don't really know if it's a good deal or not. I live in Los Angeles County so the tax is 9.75 percent so before tax its about 33k or 34k. I do not know if I am getting ripped off or not. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much!

Vinny

Vinn, it sounds like you were able to drop around 3k from the MSRP. That is a pretty good deal, but i believe you may be able to lower it even more if you really are willing to wait since it is a 2009 model. Dealerships have more room to work with on the 2009s.

Find out which dealerships physically have the car you want in their inventory. Many regional dealerships will share inventory availability, however the dealership that has the car on their books will be the most negotiable in price. However, it sounds like you have a decent price. I got my 350 fully loaded for 10% off MSRP, but I also am tax-exempt, in a special buyer program, and picked it up from the factory. Typically, the idea that you can wait out the prices on the previous year model is sound advice, but Mercedes had a combination of dramatic production cuts in 2009, along with several models being cut out so their total production for 2009 was very limited.

I was originally going to buy an SLK 350, until they told me they had already ended production on the 2009 in January were retooling their factories for production the 2010s and I would have to wait until October. Then I inquired about a CLK 350, and they told me they had already ended production on that model and it would no longer be available. So I ordered my C350 in mid-Feburary, with an estimated production date of 31 March, but due to production cuts it didn't come off the assembly line until June 8th.

tl;dr:
Don't take the idea that you can grab excess inventory for granted, there might not be much to go around.

You would think twice or you wouldn't think twice? It is a c350 for the record.

I think it had every option but one. I'll look at the sticker and let you know later. But there were two option packages that were in the 3k range. It has 18" wheels I think that were part of the sport package, Nav, full glass roof. power seats with memory (for me haha), heated seats, rear screen,

I think it has everything except leather.

EDIT: WOW. I just spec'd out the 2010 C 300 with all options/ features/ accessories except leather and it's $47,325. It's a base of $33.6 with 8.5k in packages and 4k in options.

Is your car new or a demo? What year is the car? How much are the rebates?

That's a good deal. Especially if you really like the car.

It would help if you stated what the sticker price was. I heard some advertizing saying you could get 8k off the sticker for a 2009c350. That would be a loaded c350 stickering for high 40's.....say like 48K, would be my guess.
