Cool colder weather=FRONT END NOISES !@#$

I live in Central California, and for the past few days its dropped quite a few degrees. Tonight it was about 65 degrees, my car sat for a couple hours in the cold. As I started driving, I noticed the front end of my car making weird sounds that its never done before!!!

1. when making a u-turn, something in the front end is clunking and clanking (I had the TSB done already for the popping sounds when backing....)

2. When I'm coming to a stop with moderate brake pressure, especially on slightly rougher roads, theres this weird popping sound again coming from the front...& its quite noticeable!

3. my engine, at low RPMs, is quite rough and tingly. Worse when the engine is cold, but never goes away once warmed.

ANY IDEAS??!

I had something similar with #1 when I turn the wheel all the way around it made some clunking and clanking sound especially when it is raining. but i haven't heard that sound for a while so i think its just an occasional issue.

It's been under 10 degrees here all week and the car seems fine. As of now though.. hope nothing happens when it dips in below 0.

sorry to bring this thread back...but the sound when braking seems like its becoming more noticeable. it happens within the last 10 mph of slowing to a stop(with moderate to hard braking)...and it only does it on less-than-smooth roads. its like a crunching clanking sound coming from somewhere in the front :-/

any ideas? i plan to take my car in sometime this week :-/

Check if you have all screws on all 4 wheels. Also check if they are tight enough. This was the problem for WWMIndy.

Check Sway bushes, sway links & castor bushes.

If this fails to yield the problem - climb under the car and get someone to move the steering wheel a little & listen to the steering rack. Have seen a few rack failures lately & they make a popping noise. Also check that rack bolts are tight. (when I say failures - the rack does not fail but makes a noise & Benz replace under warrranty.)

haha, well, it was in the 100's here and suddenly dropped 25-30 degrees over the course of a few days. Thats what I mean by cold! It will get much colder here over the next couple months.
