Just picked up a new car, got a few questions...
1. my car doesn't come with LED tailights. Can I retrofit LED tailights on it? Is it plug and play?
2. anyone bought the Universal Media Interface? what do you think of it? jpw much do you pay?
3. what is the whitest headlight bulb to use? My car doesnt have bi-xenon. Is PIAA Xtreme White Plus better or Star White better?
4. where can I get european convex mirrors?
eyelids -Polarg
Low/High beam - Philips Crystalvision H7
Fog - Philips Crystalvision
These are white bulbs with good life/no issues

Second, MB doesn't offer LED tailights in the W204 although tail light units with LED turn lights in red or yellow can be purchased and they are plug and play. If you want LED taillights, you will have to buy a BMW, Audi, Porsche, Cadillac or Acura.
As to convex mirrors, the glasses alone can be purchased but the cost is astronomical. I do have a convex left side mirror glass for the new style mirror that I would love to sell for a knockdown price.

But if someone mentions them again and you don't know what they are, then, just maybe, will you be stupid...
Ha jk...random philosophical rant
The mirrors are sweet though - every-time I visit my family in Europe it makes me wonder why these things aren't standard on all cars that they produce....Prob just to get us to buy blindspot assist, instead of fitting the car with proper glass....

I am posting on the W204 forum and I said I have just picked up the car a few days ago. I dont think anyone would think I am talking about my SLK. And I know my SLK has LED taillights.
Sorry, I meant to say LED rear turn signal lights. From the research that I have done so far, I am getting mixed info whether the LED turn signals are plug and play. I need to buy the tailight assembly as well because the signal portion is clear on LED equipped cars. Thats what I am trying to figure out.

I really like it. The navigation is nice, I love having full control and display of my Ipod on the nav screen, but the best thing is being able to add a bunch of music to a USB thumb drive.
The original quoted price was $1700 for the unit and $400 for the installation.
The dealer matched the online wholesale price of $1350 for the unit and discounted the install $150 ( they had my car for 6 days ! ) for a grand total of $1660 ( they charged me $60 more than the original quote for some reason ).
Any questions, let me know...
Nick
Overall I'm pleased with it with the exception of the IPOD/IPHONE interface. It has the same volume problem that used to exist on the factory installed interface, that is the volume of your audio system has to be cranked up pretty high. The factory system has a plug and play fix in the form of an amp but that doesn't work with UMI.
Thanks for the help guys with regards to the UMI.
Next project will be the rear signal lights. Still can't find the exact answer.

So, it is, indeed, a plug and play?! I won't run into any error messages saying change bulbs or my voltage is not correct etc etc....right?
