C350 vs. SLK 350
Why is it that C350's V6 3.5L engine only delivers 268 HP and the SLK 350's V6 3.5L Engine puts out 300 HP? I say it's UNFAIR! We should get the 300 HP as well!

The US Spec '09 and newer SLK 350's are not direct injection. They are a slightly different / modified 272 motor. It has different heads, intake manifold, exhaust system along with various other components. This is what provides the 300hp. I agree they should use it accross the board, but just stating what is different.

SLK is profiled for a more sporty market than the sedan. Makes sense when you are paying a bucket full of cash more.

I have the SLK with sport motor. It is a fun car and great engine. I love it.
However, don't worry about the 3.5 in the C350. Remember that the version in the C class has its max torque come in at lower RPMs, which may actually be more benefit to you than if you had the sport motor.
I think Mercedes made the sport motor on the SLK really just to say "hey we have 300 HP too."

the SLK350 motor has different cams and a tune for that. if you want you can buy those cams and have the ecu tuned, but 4 cams will cost you some where around $2800 if they're something like my M112K AMG cam price.
the best M272 E35 motor = SL350's with 7200rpm redline. just imagine that thing sing while giving you 307hp.

the M272 in the SLK350 and the SL350 have different cams and valves from reading which made the SL350 capable of having the 7200rpm redline.
