Service B ... Worth $600?
I called several Mercedes dealership in DC vicinity to get quote for Service B. The cost range is $500 - $675.
I know what kinds of services are going to be done ... Does it really worth about $600? (sounds like a stupid question though). Give me any comment or advice or suggestion. I need encouragement or discouragement ... I am hesitating to call the dealership for appointment. :-(
Is it okay to change oil and air filters? :-(
DC area is really expensive. I recall when I got service A done, the price was much higher in our region than those who live in other places like CA.
My advice would be to find a new dealer...

However, I got it down to about $315 including brake fluid flush by doing the in-cabin filter myself. I go to same dealer all the time, so they took even a bit more off. Surprising, but it makes me want to go back.
Also again that $600 better include the brake fluid flush otherwise it's even more of a rip off (brake fluid flush is $89 at my dealer).

Rear pads already? How many miles do you have? I am at 43K and they just told me I still have 50% remaining overall front and back.

I made an appointment but I am not sure I should flush my brake fluid. In other words, I am not sure he is telling the truth.
Any advice?

Brake Fluid flush is 2 years, not dependent on mileage.
My dealer quoted me $270 for front pads, and they are like $70 for the pair.
you sure have to be careful at these dealers. It scares me a bit.
At least you know the car is good to go again.

I need to get mine done soon, so it would be very helpful.
Thanks.
Service B will be done as of November 19, 2009.
FYI, I will post it as specifically as possible. I hope my neighbors in D.C. will get help.
See you tomorrow.
My temporary conclusion is you should not be here to get a deal unless you live around Hagerstown. I'm living 60 miles away.
My price is $320. But it does not include wiper replacement and brake fluid flush.
MB at Hagerstown website is showing "flexible Service B" includes "replacement of wiper blade". But the service advisor said it applies to old model, not w204.
I called around prior to coming here. The most expensive one was Euromotorcars at Bethesda-$650. After 15% coupon it reduces to $553. But it includes everything such as brake fluid flush and wiper replacement.
According to a service advisor at euromotorcars Bethesda, brake fluid flush costs $130. And wiper blade costs $48. I guess the total cost after 15% coupon would be $400.
In conclusion, if you choose Hagerstown you can save around $80. I should not have come here. $80, after time and gas cost, is not that worth.
My ride is one year old and no problem in wiperblade so that both are not really required now.
If your ride is more than 2 years old and has problem in wiperblade MB at Hagerstown would not very great deal.
Other dealers (e.g., HBL, Euromotorcars at Germantown, Herb Gordon in Silver Spring, MB at Alexandria) are quoting $500 to $550. But all of those dealers do not include Brake fluid flush and wiper replacement.
The number does not unfortunately reflect everything. The wise way to figure out each price would be to ask if it includes brake fluid flush and wiperblade replacement. Other things such as oil change and cabin filter change are common.
So $80 is worth for you? Go get it. But I'm regreting :-(
first of all, RON, 400 for rear brake pads...dude, ka'mon! your front pads wear out LONG before your rears... do you know how to look and see the amount of pad left? are there any indentations in your rear rotors...if you rub your finger along the surface of the disc can you feel a lip or is it smooth? i doubt very much that your rear pads were shot before your fronts...unless brake stands are a common occurrence. Plus I doubt they took the time to bed them in properly...did you ask if it had been done?
get the oil changed...they are recorded...oil changes at the dealership should be about 130 if you don't want to do it yourself. if you do it yourself then reset the service indicator in the secret menu. you won't get a service due in "x" amount of days any more.
if you can't change your own wiper blades than you deserve to pay whatever the dealer quotes.
brake fluid flushes at 20k? really? i mean, i guess if your tracking the car and that fluid is boiling half the time then okay.
i am in no way saying that getting your service done at the dealership is wrong or silly, especially if its still in warranty because the obvious statement here is…when you go to sell or trade the fact that a dealership did the work is a huge price point to potential buyers/dealerships…but that doesn't mean get raked over the coals at every corner either. be informed...know what exactly what they are doing and what it "should" cost.
just a little insight as to where i'm coming from...yes, every dealership is different, owned by people with a wide range of ethics, diverse demographics and regions. however, MY dealership in particular is run by the two old guys from the muppets that sit up in the balcony and give sh*t to everyone while rarely knowing what their talking about.
for instance...when i asked how much they would charge me to remove the resonator and weld in an x-pipe (welding is about the only thing i wouldn't do myself) they responded by saying, "these cars don't have resonators." they also put directional summer tires on backwards. how does that even happen...THEY ARE STAGGERED!! they have never once been able to replicate a problem even though it is a 100% of the time problem, not one that comes and goes. they actually LOST my car once....FOR A WHOLE DAY! for that i was offered a bunch of free stuff, maintenance, ect, i took none of it.
I know i'm rambling but they actually lost and then lied about it my car when it was in production. i had sold my M3 because my 204 was to be delivered in a week. it turned out it hadn't even been built yet! I called SEVERAL times to confirm everything was on schedule…they said it was. so i had to scower the north east and get find a similarly built car....ended up driving to long island...i'm from boston. so there is 600 miles i had to put on a brand new car in 1 day!
sorry for the rant but MB's are just car's. they are in the upper echelon, i have one, i love it but these dealerships and services are grade A phooey! The cars cost the same across the country, for the most part but the services are double and triple the costs?! Gimme a break!

i got mine done over the summer at 24k miles and if my memory serves me correct i paid about $350 at most
