Does MB offer any genuine MB performance parts that are covered under our warranty?
Hey guys,
I'm totally new to MB but was wondering if there are any genuine MB performance upgrades available that are covered under our warranty? Coming from Mazda and Honda who do offer this sort of thing occasionally I was curious if MB does this? If so, what is available for the C350 Sport?
Thanks,
MBnewb

Get used to the sarcasm. For some people it seems to be the only way they know how to communicate. I have not found any factory performance parts so far. I have been on the hunt for cams and upgraded heads etc... If you do find something, please post it!

Nothing from Mercedes. I've only seen new air filters, ram air intakes (it already is ram air stock, but there are a few options, not sure of the benefits though), pulleys, headers, and exhaust systems.

Thanks guys, it does seem that the performance upgrades are limited on this car for sure. I suppose that is a good thing meaning that MB already has this car near perfect stock. Most mods I see on this forum are appearance-oriented and there are many options as far as that goes. I'm contemplating a CF rear diffuser and possibly front lip spoiler.

It sounds like several of the members have had good luck with ECU "reflashes". And I believe that gets rid of the dreaded throttle lag as well!

NO aftermarket performance parts will EVER be covered under MB warranty...EVER! No other car manufacture will be either...Honda, mazda, Mitsu included. there are lots of evo parts that mitsu will tend to look the other way with considering all the options and how close a lot of the aftermarket guys work with the original R&D but that is about it. Even high end DINAN direct part swaps with BMW won't be covered under warranty and dinan to bmw is like carlson to MB...not quite amg affiliated but close.
also, be careful. some dealers will really give you a hard time with mods, even if they aren't directly related to the problem. others, not so much.
I know you said OEM to OEM which is different. no, there are no cams or timing equipment that would give any gains other than a pulley (wouldn't advise that either). there are tunes...plenty of areas on the forums to search for that. LT headers, bigger TB's, high flow airboxes...all reserved for the big boys...c63's.
not the greatest car to modify, especially performance wise...it is what it is i guess.

Oh that's good because I was under the impressions that 80% of performance equipment available for our car did not result in HP gains.
If you want performance gains and you want to keep your warranty, as far as I know you have two viable options. Carlsson and Brabus. Mercedes will attempt to void huge sections of your warranty for tuning, but both companies pick up the tab when Mercedes won't honor their warranty.

This is the second post I read at the top of the page where people just spout off wrong information. Unless you know for a fact don't post like you do.
There are two companies that make cams that I know of and there may be more.

Brabus offers a 4.0 engine upgrade.
ECU flash availability is very common and all your main MB tuners offer one as well as a few smaller tuners.
Be prepared to pay a premium and our currency exchange rate doesn't help.

To add to the above posts -- MB accessories or parts purchased WITH the vehicle (for example, I had them put my wood/leather steering wheel in for when I accepted delivery etc) are covered for the full length of the vehicle's warranty. Any parts that you purchase from MB after that fact are only covered for the part/accessory's 1-year warranty from the parts department. Hope that helps!

Looks like I'll be keeping everything stock, not many options out there and I sure don't want to void the warranty on a MB. I wouldn't mind getting K&N filter replacements but looks like a real pain in the ace to get to the air box(es).

Do you have multiple MB dealers in your area? If so you could call around and ask them if they support RENNtech or Kleemann ECU tunes. Some dealers sell and do these themselves.
RENNtech sells a header & ECU tune that give you 40+ hp & tq for around $4000. The headers won't void the warranty on the engine, but will kill it for your cats all the way back. At least that's what my dealer told me. The ECU tune will kill your engine warranty should you throw a rod or have a catastrophic internal failure. The chances of this are very rare but none the less...
If you're close to a Carlsson dealer, they will back their products if MB denies your warranty claim.
