Little knob top center by windshield?

What's the little half-round knob on top of the dash in the center by the windshield? Some type of sensor?

Also, what's under the center grate where that knob is and also under the two outer grates flanking it on left and right? Speaker(s)?

ambient light sensor eh?

not sure about the center grate knob question... I'd have to look

That's not a knob... It's a light sensor. Don't cover it up!

There is a speaker under the center grille and the two that flank it are the air vents for the windshield defogger.

Thanks. I wasn't planning on covering it up,...just removing it.

Seriously. Would that light sensor be for: a) automatic headlights, b) auto-dimming mirrors, c) neither one, d) something else?

Little bit of advice: If you don't know what it is-leave it the hell alone.
Why were you planning on "removing" it?

Auto Lights and Sun intensity for the HVAC, I think.

Auto Dimming mirrors run off the inside mirror's light sensor.

Don't know...

On mine, when I've got the sun in front and it's warm, the A/C and/or fan changes in intensity over say, the sun not beating down on me from the front.
