I hear a high pitched humming sound when driving on my C300, especially when accelerating, it matches the RRM of my car. It's surely coming from the front of the car, engine most likely. Has anyone ever experienced this? I only starting experiencing this within the last few weeks and it surely wasn't there before.

Squeaking pulley maybe? Old belt maybe?

Poly V Belt tensioner pulley - common - replace.

Yup, you're right. I took the car to the dealer today, it was the V belt tensioner. Will just have it replaced. Thanks!

Is it a humming sound, or is it more like a whine/supercharger sound. Because mine sounds almost like a supercharger blow. So much so that people have asked me if I had a supercharger installed in spirited friendly runs, LOL! I kind of like it, but I hope it isn't damaging?

Depending on where you are. If you are standing right in front of the engine with the hood open, it sounds like a whine with a slight chatter coming from the pulley area. But if you're inside the car, it sounds like a humming sound.

The technicians said it won't harm the car until the sound gets real loud. I'm having mine changed already anyway. I don't plan on taking any chances!
