Another round of ICE
They recommend that you follow the steps they outline in the owner's manual.

But seriously the B service is basically a $450 oil change... I will be going to an indy for about half price! Can someone tell me why MB dealerships charge so much?!

Don't they do a brake fluid change with B also?

Yes they do... at my dealership... Service B is $495... plus $200 for the brake fluid flush. Have about 5000km left before they rape me.

So it doesn't include (for the $495) a brake fluid change, how about an air filter change? I thought B was oil, brake, air filter. If not, then indeed its a total ripoff. All this "inspect" stuff - the tech just glances at each of those I am sure for 30 seconds and checks a box.

My Service B was A plus cabin filters and wipers. I had to pay for the air filter and brake fluid. Service B is a complete rip off!

Depending on the mileage and duration, a Service "B" may include a brake fluid change, but this isn't included in the pricing. Typically, it's a oil service, air filters replacement, and inspections for safety, lights, brakes, wipers etc. The check suspension linkages, brakes pads and rotors for thickness and wear, brake and fuel lines for chaffing. In a nut shell, a very expensive oil change. That is why it pays to conduct that stuff yourself. If you don't have the mechanical skills, then an independant MB shop is the way to go. I perform all required maintenance myself. I learn new things each time, and I get the pleasure and sense of accomplishment doing it myself.

Forget B then. I am just going "a la carte" and paying the dealer for a brake fluid change, air filter change (it doesn't look that easy), and the 7G transmission fluid change.

My two year brake fluid change cost about eighty bucks and that's at Seattle's big dealer.

For that $200 charge for fluid, do you also get a kiss?

Service "B" is the same as service "A" plus replacement of the cabin air filter. Only real reason to replace the cabin air filter is if you do not get sufficient air flow from the air conditioner or smell odors. It has nothing to do with protecting your vehicle. Brake fluid change is usually a separate cost item. You may want to replace the cabin air filter yourself.

(Sorry for jacking the thread, if I am. I didnt wanna start another)

I will be getting Service B1 soon (this week), and was wondering if I missed anything: I need them to fix the Bluetooth (much static), the power mirrors (for creeking), and the cabin filter (humid air smells terrible). Ive read about them and saw others posts. Anyone have other problems I may have forgot, bc I dont wanna go back (lol).

Thanks in advance,
Rob

Have you any idea what the overhead in a big MB dealer is? How do you think the owners pay for the big boat, the airplane and the vacation home?

At my dealer, before the bottom fell out several years back and cars were selling well, it was costing $1,000,000 per month just to keep the doors open.

That explains the labor rate.
