Infinity kappa 60,11 in the front front doors

Hello everybody. I am from sweden so sorry for any misspelling

Just installed a pair of these in my car (infinity kappa 60,11), they will fit with a little push, but they are not with the metal plate like the 60,9 has. But I dont think it matters so much. The tweeters fits perfect without any changing to the car, you put them in the plastic form that you get with the tweeter and after that just press them into the orginal place. They sound amazing, really amazing compare with the crap speakers that they delivered the car with and this without changing the EQ in the enginering mode. Ok the bass is less but it is so much better sound. I guess I also miss some bass right now because I dont have an updated firmware yet. I also removed the crossover from the plastic box that they are placed within and secured them just over the speakers. Fits great there now and I dont have to rewire anything, just cut the wires and connect them in the crossover

I also found a smaller privat workshop (not dealer) that use the auto logic computer (not star) that will help me with the software for the comand upgrade, today I dont have the sound option in the enginering mode (guess the update 2009 added it). I have the comand with navigation and the big folding screen, my version is 7 today, guess they never upgraded it over these years. I will get atleast version 11 I guess and hope I get the eq mode then. This only cost me 100 dollars and I think everybody should do it, the mercedes dealer workshop said they wanted the car a whole day for upgrading this and for that they wanted more than 800 dollars, just saying I will never return to them. With the auto logic computer they also helped me and upgraded the automatic gearbox (5 gears) software to a never one, what a difference compare to before. Much quicker respons to driving the car now and no hesitate to change gears like before. I miss my old w208 gearbox though, it was really awesome to drive.

Will change the rear speakers soon to and hopefully get the bluetooth streaming to work, heard you can get it if you ask the right person so I am looking for him now. Mercedes said to me, you have the right stereo but the wrong car, what is that to say?

Hi again.

Done with the updated software on the comand and got aux boost option, eq parameter, eagle eye view on navigation and then combined with a belkin bluetooth streaming conected to the aux port I have spotify again. The sound is amazing with spotify and cd compare to before, just the radio that miss some bass. The update took them 1,5 hours. Now I have to find the latest maps and then I am finished with the upgrade. This is a big change compare to the original, a must do I say.. The eq parameter is different on the comand and no you dont have to change anything, the bass is good and I love bass

Great, tecoy! Didn't know that the very first COMAND system in the 2008's (built in 2007) could be fully upgradeable. As for the EQ, Harman Kardon uses the parametric equalizer in conjunction with the Logic 7 parameters to touch up the frequency response for the best possible sound. Agree that not changing the EQ is the best idea.

The Belkin - some past reviews have complained of poor throughput of streamed audio. Recommend comparing the Aux output quality from Spotify vs. streaming. Of course streaming is more convenient. Best of success.

Hello everybody!

I am about to get Infinity Kappa's 60.11cs to replace my stock front Audio 20 speakers (non HK).

The only thing I am concerned about is that I've already changed my tweeters to HK Logic 7 ones. It was the simplest plug-and-play install which slightly increased the sound quality.

What do you think if I still have to replace HK tweeters again with Infinity ones from 60.11cs set while changing my mid-ranges? Or to keep HK tweeters with Infinity's mids?

Thank you!

Since the HK tweeters are already installed, just keep them and let the woofers and rear-door speakers break in, before you judge the sound. Remember to hook the HK tweeters up to the Infinity Xover, and use the 0 dB (not the -6 dB) output. You can always trim the highs on the Audio20 display.

So I don't want to leave my HK tweeters as they are? I mean, with the built-in capacitor.

I have to cut the capacitor off and run the wires to Infinity Xover?

By the way, aren't the Infinity tweeters from the kit better than HK anyways?

The non-polarized capacitor on the HK tweeters can be discarded as the Infinity Kappa's come with a far superior inductor-based crossover. The HK tweeters are probably less efficient than the Infinity by a few dB. Suggested is leaving the HK tweeters in for the 30-hour break-in the woofers will need, then decide if the highs are too laid back. Remember that the Kappa tweeters require enlarging the mounting holes on the window frame, which can always be done later if the HK tweeters seem too dull or unbalanced.

Where is the best place to put the new crossovers? Inside the car or inside the door?

Inside the door, close to the hinge. Make sure to put some foam padding if necessary to prevent them from rattling. Keep the attenuator switch a 0dB (not -6), you can trim the highs from the Audio20 Headunit.

M276?

My apologies for waking up this old thread. I've read most of it. Thanks to all who contributed over the years.

I have a simple question. Will this speaker upgrade work on a 2013 c300 (m276)?

Thanks!

@Michael: Yes it will, if your W204 has the stock Audio 20 system and not the Harman Kardon Logic 7 option. Best of success!

If your have the 5 1/2 inch fixed screen, then the amplifier is integrated into the Audio 20 headunit. If you have the COMAND option with the retractable screen, most, but not all, have an integrated high-power amplifier in the headunit plus a subwoofer amplifier fed by fiber optic under the rear seat.
Another way to tell is to use the MBWorld VIN Decoder. Entering your VIN will give a list of all the optiohs, paint and interior materials of your vehicle.
