Unhappy Rear lighting issues

I have a 2008 model C350 and was wondering if there were other owners out there experiencing issues with their rear tail lights. Shortly before leaving Hawaii, I was pulled over several times indicating that my rear tail light was out. After taking it to the dealer in Honolulu, they told me that everything was fine. Since that time, I have relocated to Heidelberg Germany. The car just arrived in country a few weeks ago and once again the rear tail light issue. This time I decided to take a look at it myself. What I found was a burned wiring harness on the right rear. One of the wire casings melted onto the contacts and now I have no lights on the right side at all. I call Mercedes Benz USA to see if there had been any recalls for this issue and they stated that there were not. If anyone is experiencing this issue please share your courses of action. Thanks

Tina

There's been numerous bulbs that went out on the C and there's always been a bright red message that lights up the dashboard as a warning light ! We've brought it to our MB dealer with and without an appointment and they've always taken care of it without question ?? I'd day get it to the delaer yet again and let them look it over again very carefully ? Good luck !!

Thanks for your reply, the strange thing is I am not receiving warning lights on my console inside. In either case I will be trying my luck for the first time at the Mercedes Benz Service here in Germany on Monday. Hopefully for my sake they have someone that speaks English.

Yes, I have the exact same problem. On the right side, the brown wire going into the back of the connecter has burned and is corroded.....I'm experienceing fading in and out (like a christmas tree) on that side due to the resistance. The parts are really cheap, I'm just going to splice the new connector in myself.

I just noticed the same problem with mines earlier this week and I brought it in today and they want to charge $250 to fix it...i'm about 10,000 miles past my warranty but I think something like this should get fixed at no charge...on top of that the SA and Service Manager were A$$holes and rude so now i'm going to call customer care and file a complaint...I will let you guys know how it turned out...
