Angry Got my car out of the shop after the accident they drove it 30 miles??? WTF? Why??

As above. They test drove my car with only a bumper replacement a fog light and a horn, the most they should driven was 10 miles i can believe that but 30 miles??? WTF I am going to complain they definitely took it on a joy ride!

-Any suggestions what I should do? Am I beeing unreasonable? I mean the car is nice blacked out and its a stick witch is rare in LA plus it has a full exhaust I see why somebody would but not on my watch!

No necessarily a joy ride but there are some not so reputable dealers who let their mechanics take the cars home for the night. Disgusting practice if you ask me. There was a news story recently about a dealer on Long Island whom engaged in this practice and the mechanic got into a car accident with the car and the dealership did not want to pay the customer for the damages. I'd defiantly raise a stink about it. My dealership makes me sign a waver saying that they have my permission to put on more than 9 miles on my car.

Check out this news story and make sure you watch the video:

Someone had to pick up lunch right????

Any respectable shop would note the mileage prior to service, even dealerships.

Are you certain of the location of their bodyshop? Is it on the dealer premises or was the job subcontracted out?

the body shop was recommended by Allstate and i know the location of the body shop, I just called they told me they wrote the millage down wrong on the receipt (yeah as if) they told me they took pictures of the millage and sent it to the insurance company if i dont bielive thme. I told them to have the owner call me becuase his a family friend of my girlfriends and I am asking for a portion of the deductible back, the owner promised me to give me a break on the deductible but he was not there when i picked up the car so i had to pay the $500. Im not stupid to think im going to get any money back but its worth a try. Ive had body shops before not charge the deductible for bringing them beusiness so i know its possible.

exactly what i was thinking.. a buddy of mine works for a dealership around here, and when they arent able to/dont have the right tools they will take the car to a different location to have the repairs done.

check your bill to see if it has any additional charges or anything unusual that could indicate an outside repair source.

I took my car to the dealers because there was some noise coming from the front tires. I thought it was debris and come to find out it was. Now I have no idea why they needed to drive it for 70 miles to figure that out but when you leave your car at the shop, you are giving them the right to drive it over night. Whether you know it or not, thats how it is. I was pissed but couldn't do anything about it. Good luck if you pursue anything!

After an alignment, the shop would (should) test drive the car on a non-crowned (or as little crowned) road to see if it pulls one way or another. Maybe the location is a little distance away from the shop, and maybe they test drove it a few times to get the alignment right... but 30 miles sounds a bit excessive.

I know my dealership says that if they have to take it out on long trips they would let me know. But for the most part, they do alot of road testing. The drive around, to repair shop, car washes, 30 miles add up for road testing because they should so some sort of road testing to see if eveything is tight on the road before giving it back to you. If nothing if they gave you a loaner and nothing is damage then I say it all good. All in all, they should have clear explanation why there is 30 miles on the car while in service and repair.

Post the Shop name!

Unfortunately, this isn't uncommon at all.

Very important to write down and take a picture of your drop-off mileage, and have a confirmation from the Shop Owner that your car will not be driven over X amounts of mileage, and will be kept safe at the Shop.

Also, one thing I'm going to start doing, which will annoy Dealers, etc. Is request a walk-around of the car with an employee, and sign/agree to whatever "damage" might exist on the car. So when I pick it up, I can scan and make sure nothing happened to it while on their watch.

The OP has a very nice looking car. They probably pushed it for all its worth and then some. Look at it like this, if you borrowed someone's HOT girlfriend for a night, would you be gentle with her?

Milage...

If the estimate was written trough Allstate they are required to upload a picture of the mileage when they write the estimate it will be attached to your damage photos call Allstate it will also be on the Estimate.
