tranny fluid??

i cant find anything on here about tranny fluid replacment?

i got a 2009 c300 auto tranny.

stealership told me i should change out the fluid and they wanted about $375.

it seems like it just a drain and fill procedure. but would love to see a diy or some info on how much fluid to put it and so on.

i know there is a drain plug on the tranny pan from reading around.. but how to fill?!?! is there a fill plug as well? or a dip stick hole where i can pour in fromt he engine bay?

also should i change the filter?? im thinking it requires dropping the pan

thanks

You do have to drop the pan and it needs a filter. And I hear you need to buy a dipstick from MB to measure the fill.

For a one-off change during the life of the car, I'd use MB,

Most of the

later year auto trans have omitted the dipstick tube altogether and need to be filed via the breather tube on the pan.
So check if you have a dipstick tube and diy and if not shop around for a better price on less than 9liters of mb fluid and labor. But get it done since it will ensure long life.

My 5 speed tranny oil change is a little more complicted than just dropping the oil & refilling. The torque convertor requires flushing to remove all of the old oil . A total of 14 litres of oil is used to flush the system. When you consider the cost of the oil, filter, gasket, & filler cap your quoted price of $375 sounds pretty good. Peace of mind of having an expert do the job properly is worth a few bucks also.
If you do decide to do it yourself I would recommend you obtaining the complete MB 'how to' before starting. This transmission is a piece of high tech gear & should be respected. If not it will quite likely bite you on the ar*se.

You don't flush

a 722.6 transmission. And for the 375 The dealer is only draining the pan and not doing the proper cooling line drain of the converter.
That is why it is overpriced. i have seen 5 liters drained from the pan and charges in that range from other members that have gone to the dealer. If you have the 5speed 722.6 and a dipstick tube the diy is on www.benzworld.org w210 forum it is the same trans.
If you have the 7speed or the 5 speed without the tube go to an indie shop and have it done.

Here is the full procedure: Not that difficult - pan bolts are stretch bolts - also suggest replacement of TC plug or liberal application of Locktite.
