Question Can you buy Factory Xenons after car is bought ?

Ok, so my friend has 2010 C300 but he didn't get the Xenons, he saw mine yesterday and he drove it and he loved how bright they are,
he is wondering if its possible to buy the factory xenons now after he driven the car off the lot ?

Thanks for the input ...

yes, you can retro fit them, but expensive right now.

you won't get the auto-leveling or the 2011 swivel head lamp however.

easier to just a the HID kit.

I told him about the Hid kit like mtec or something, but he has had the worst luck with HID's in the past and doesn't want to risk is, how much do you think it would cost to retro-fit ?

MTEC are quality HID's....They are $300 a set, you can't compare to the $50 sets every flys through.

By "expensive right now", do you mean parts get cheaper, like when the w205 is released?

I had a set of DDM HIDs. I loved the brightness, but the light pattern was so horrible that I switched back to halogens. Also, I've looked into retro-fitting, and I found out that each side costs around $1,100 without "active light", whatever that means. That's for each headlight assembly. I'm not sure if that includes the ballast, bulb, and whatever else you need.

Price was taken from getmercedesparts.com.

retail won't change, but discount usually get bigger when the parts become older or when new headlight style comes out. I believe they're around $2k right now from mbenznl/steve (or was). can't be sure tho.

for example, the 203 bi-xenon when it was first available it was around $1500-1700 from mbenznl, but later dropped to $1250-1300.

i got my HID kit without errors, so i'm content for now. i'll wait when the c63 headlight start flying around for a cheaper price before upgrading. as far as light pattern goes they are the same as using halogen. you have to make sure you seat the bulbs properly or the light will shoots out ever which way. at first I thought the halogen projector couldn't take the hid kit as well.

Parts.com usually has cheaper prices. The W209 Xenons go for around $1600 new, I was able to find a set used for around $900 on eBay

Still too expensive for just upgrading to bi-xenons. What the w204 really needs is some quality aftermarket headlights with projectors designed for HIDs!

Also, not sure about wiring, LiC300.

check my edited post above

you can use hid kit with the halogen projector perfectly.

I have read about that solution, and I might have tried it if one of my bulbs didn't burn out. I still have them if I want to buy another pair of bulbs. But when the bulbs were seated "correctly", it gave me a dark spot on both sides and a dip in the center of the light pattern (the part of the road I need to see). I thought if I turned the bulb a little out of place to fix the light pattern, it would bend the clip the wrong way, and I'd need new clips if I ever wanted to go back to stock.

I have a dark spot on the left side of the driver side off the really side, but doesn't bother me that much as the fog lights would cover that area. other than that no dip in the center as you described. i'll see if i can remember to take a pic tonight of the light pattern.

I installed Hid kits for my fogs and low beams and they are very bright and give the car a very nice look.it roughly cost me 400$ installed and i couldnt be happier. i pucharced my kits from HIDextra.com yes i noticed a small dip in the center but it doesnt bother me i see the road much clearer than i did with the halogen bulbs. the retofit was tottally worth it.

if you need some pics let me know.

MTEC is kind of the best of the best in HIDs, that's why they are so expensive.

lol, a lot of people think they are good. I haven't tried them personally, I stick to the $60 ones. Hidextra was having a $44 sale and I stocked 3 kits just in case.

to me it's more about quality rather than the price. you can get 70-90 kit that are really well made. the actual cost for them are never more than 40-50 bucks anyway.

Anybody know if you can fit a D2S retrofit kit into the stock 2010 C300 non-HID H7 projector housing? Can you use an H7 Retrofit kit and get pretty decent intensity and OEM like 4300K white light from the non HID H7 projectors?

You could do a bit better with an inside source. My W203 had the low-only Xenons which were ugly lights and when the BX lights were introduced (2003?) I weaseled a pair from a friend who is the parts/service mgr for a local dealer. I paid about $1200 for the pair which must have been near their cost and which was about 1/2 retail. Plug and play but the bumper cover had to come off.

Best lights I've ever had, sometimes too bright. I like to light up the big green signs over the Interstates from 1/4 mile back with a quick flash which must astonish the other drivers with their wimpy factory standard lights.

Halogens are so 1966, now.
