X-pipe?

Hi, im new to the Mercedes world and i just bought a 2010 C300 sport 6 speed manual. The car is very fun to drive but i would love a sound like the C63. Would an xpipe or straight pipe in place of the resonators make a difference. Good or bad idea??

The x pipe would be the better choice in this case. The straight pipes have been known to sound raspy beyond all reason. The most popular brand of x pipe on these forums would be the MagnaFlow Tru-X Crossover with the 2.25" inlet/outlet pipes. It costs around $80 online and should cost only $35-60 to install at any reputable exhaust shop.

I've just installed a x-pipe this weekend (magnaflow) for about 70$ for the x-pipe and 40$ for installation. By far in my personal perspective this is the best mod that can be done in a car for the price. I highly recommend doing this. Best sounds at 3~4 thousand rpms. Since you have a 6-speed you would be loving to shift at this rpm. MUST DO.

I put the X-Pipe on my vehicle a few months back and I must say I’m very happy with the mod. It's very inexpensive and in my case easy to install ( I'm a Mercedes tech so I have all the tools lol). I’m posting a link to my 2008 C300 Sport so you can hear the different tones at RPM intervals. The first 2 revs were about 1.5k, the second 2 revs were about 3k and the last 3 were to redline.

Noob question, can you have XPipe on the exhaust with single tailpipe (non C300, I have C200)?

Unfortunately no. The x-pipe is the connecting point between the exhaust from the two separate engine banks on a V6, V8, etc. An inline 4 is going to have only one header with no downstream exhaust mixing.

Sounds good and now question , you still have the muffler in place right ? or just resonator deleted and replaced with X-pipe ?

Edit: Do u have any pics under your car to show your setup ?

Yea, I have the mufflers in place. I should have some time this weekend to take some pictures in the shop. It's a very simple setup, just a resinator delete.

Would any of you that were concerned with the "classy-ness" of the car say that the xpipe sound deminished that?

I am on the fence with this mod as I don't want it to sound like a ricer car.

No it wouldn't. You would hear the exhaust note in the higher RPM range... I barely hear anything with less than 3,500 RPM or with normal cruising speed.

pics of my install here.

I had the same concerns with the sound but I must say it is not overwhelming at all. It is surprisingly very quiet and when you hit the gas you get just enough to hear the nice rev. Just do it!!! Most all that do it are very happy with it.
