If you were going to get new tires on the your stock 17's what would you get? I am not a huge fan of these Michelins I have and they are $$ to replace. Thanks

there are several threads discussing the DWS, no need to wait for someone to chime in, just go find the answers.
I am curious to know what people think if I only do the rears now. Thats what I need. I will switch the fronts over to the DSW's when they need replacement.
Whatever you do, do all 4 the same at the same time for handling and safety.

Their pricing is remarkable.

I was impressed with the overwhelming reviews and tests and also how reasonably priced it is (I got it on sale from Tire Rack).
The grip and handling is excellent, with great road feel without being harsh. It is a surprisingly extremely quiet tire.
One fault is that eventhough it is an all-season tire, I wouldn't suggest driving it on ice or snow -- not a concern for me as I have a dedicated winter tire/wheel set.
You wouldn't be disappointed.

Only studded tires will be even halfway decent on ice. Just stay off the ice unless you are playing hockey.
I haven't run them through snow yet, but I suspect this winter in MD will give me an opportunity to try them out.
I don't believe you'll be disappointed!
I sold my winter set before I moved to Toronto.
I have 4matic so with the DWS I should have little problem this winter. I will wait to see if I really need a hardcore set of snow tires.
I always assume an excellent performance tire usually performs poorly in the snow.

4matic and DWS will be an excellent combo
My 2008 C350 with factory 18" wheels (NOT Dealer installed) had the Conti SportContact 3's. Fronts were 225/40 ZR18 - 92Y - Extra Load & Rears 255/35 ZR18 - 94Y - Extra Load.
The Conti ExtremeContact DWS I am looking to put on the car are Front 225/40 ZR18 - 92Y - Extra Load & Rears 255/35 ZR18 - 90Y.
My concern are the rear tires being a lower weight rating (154 lbs less) and not the extra load listing.

54% of that 3,600 is 1,944 lbs, meaning that each front tire only carries half that normally, or 972 pounds each. 46% (which the rears hold) of 3,600 is 1,656lbs, now each tire will only have to hold half that, or 828 lbs on average. So with your 90Y tires rated a 1,323 lb maximum, you still have 495 pounds left on each tire to hold on the rear, while the fronts only rated to have 1390lbs, and normally hold 972 pounds, you have only 418lbs per tire left.
In essence, you shouldn't be as worried about the rears as you are the fronts, our cars are not perfectly distributed to the front and rear, and hold slightly more weight in the front. Again, these are just estimates. Chances are that you carry around extra things in your car, and your tires on average hold a bit more weight than I estimated (probably closer to 4,000lbs). But you still have tons of extra weight you can carry and lug around.
Remember, the ratings are ratings, it is what the tire can support without running into problems. It can hold more weight than what it is rated for and still have no problems. And in the rare event that you do carry more than suggested or rated, it will only be for a short amount of time; so there is no serious cause for concern. Lastly, the extra load vs standard tires are that the extra load has a reinforced sidewall, so the tires will ride a bit harsher vs standard, but will not fall victim to blowouts or flats as easy, and will also take corners a bit better than standard tires. The standard tires on the other hand will give a softer ride feel but sacrifices stability during cornering.
Personally, I think that what your looking to put on the car is fine, if your worried, I am sure that they make your rears in the extra load version; that will give you some peace of mind. But you really don't have to stress over it, 154 pounds per tire, or 308lbs for the entire car isn't THAT drastic, just don't put a bunch of bags of concrete in the trunk, lol!
I like the tires. I do think that the Michelins look better. I am not gonna get to picky for looks because I could just buy a set of aftermarket wheels and tires to dress up the car. These are the stock 17's and I am overall happy with them.
Looks like a very reasonable price for outstanding performance !!
