C300/C350 Intake
I figured I would get this started on this forum to see if there is enough interest. This was in the Benzworld forum
ITwo words: Forced Induction
DaveInNova,
If enough people submit a Product Request Form on our website, our R&D department might look in to making an intake system complete with heat shields. Get all your 204 friends to fill one out!

I'm pretty sure K&N doesn't make a turbo or supercharger kit for any car, so you can give up the idea of K&N breaking into forced induction with ours. They already have a high-flow intake filter for our car, so what exactly are you guys requesting? Our intake system is already heat shielded, what do you think that composite fiber hose running off the intake is made of?

I read the thread, and the topic has already been throughly discussed on the forums.. again the question is, what intake system? It's a modern mercedes not a 90s civic. The intake system is already there, just swap out the stock filter if you want some improvement.

Therefore the system has not been developed yet. So to answer your question specifically, we are not referring to any intake system currently available.

Oh, I get your idea.. but it's pretty certain there's no significant room for improvement. Like I said, it's a modern Mercedes not a 90s civic... and the guys at Affalterbach really are competent (and significantly better funded) after all. If you want to take apart your intake system for polished aluminum tubes than have a blast but don't delude yourself to thinking that if you bombard them with enough requests they won't just find something to sell you.

And MB doesn't have unlimited funds to make a system, they are constrained by how expensive the vehicle can be, also the the sound baffles restrict airflow and sound. Also the airflow could LOOK better. Plastic looks cheap.

Maybe I'm just being cranky today, but yeah replacing the front scoops for being plastic is something to consider. After all I replaced my engine cover with CF for the same reason. I'm pretty sure the hose is a composite fiber specifically designed to shield heat though, not plastic. My intake housing lacks any baffling, but I never saw it until after my CK35 upgrades were completed. Is there baffling standard? As far as budgetary constraints, their ability to trickle down technology and the dozens of race teams that work with their R&D department (which is the best fundded R&D department in the world) combined with their vested interest in engineering for Mercedes puts my trust in them leaps and bounds ahead of K&N. It took me no further than a look at the K&N oil filter for our car for $25 compared to the IDENTICAL MANN filter for our car at $10 to realize K&N has no qualms exploiting their customer base (almost entirely ricers).

Can you show me a pic of the internal baffling? I'm pretty sure mine doesn't have any and my engine definitely makes some noise. I'll take a pic of my configuration if it's any different for comparison... which would also mean good news: there's an after-market intake solution already available.
