Thumbs up C300 side moldings... gone!

I noticed the C63s don't have the moldings and it took me all of 5 seconds to decide whether they deserved to stay or not. I know some people may like the molding, and I definitely respect that, but in my mind- chrome won't get you home.
A matter of an hour, a small hair dryer, and some length of fishing line; my car looks multiple times better, imo.
My advice, slowly work the fishing line behind the molding and get the plasti-chrome pieces off first, than go back over the foam tape with the hair dryer and roll the tape off slowly. It's heat activated, so it takes a small amount of heat and it'll roll right off.
A small bit of sticker remover, and you're done.

Simple and free mod with great results
(sorry for the low res iPhone pics... one day I'll bust out the DSLR)

Before:

After:

I'll be leaving the rest of the molding around the windows, I like that accent, and it'll stand out with the wheels I'll be installing soon.

hope you guys like it!

That's one of the first things I did to my car. I have a black C also and chrome on black doesn't look good to me. Such a small change can really make a difference. I think the strips look better on a light colored car though

Thanks!
I actually used a can of "Lift Off 2". It's a bit more potent than Goo Gone, but still won't hurt the paint like Goof Off, or some other, more acidic goo removers.

Also- the heat gun did help. Just 5-10 second before rolling it off and it came off without any residue really.
Walked out to the car today and I'm so glad I took the time, looks real good!

Looks good. I agree that dark colored cars look exponentially better with that strip removed. Whites and silvers 50/50 though as it doesn't stand out as much on lighter cars.

Looking great. What's the point of such molding? It's way too low to avoid door dings.

Well, I'm not sure how this site works with non vendors... but I have no problem trying to design something and than having a few made to sell. My friend owns a company that can make vinyl window stickers. We need to get our rep up for this site

You can always PlastiDip the window trim to see what it would look like blacked out, it peels right off when dry.

I was thinking that... I'm going to mess around in photoshop first. That's free and I don't have to peel anything off- command z is my best friend lol
I think leaving the window trim will go well with my rims I'm getting soon. We'll see than

I agree looks much better without the side chrome molding, I remove mine it was a part of the blackout theme.

Not easily removed. Most damage the trim when trying. You can have it covered in vinyl or painted. I recommend vinyl.
