It might be cheaper to just buy a new bumper when you hit something. haha just kidding. on a more serious note, I've only seen threads on back up cameras on the MM system.

Are you sure the car in the youtube video was a W204 sedan, perhaps it was a GLK?

I cannot see how one would be able to connect an external video source to the small display, there is no video input. It could be possible the hard way, like the way the UMI kit works but this would be extremely complicated and expensive, a lot easier and less expensive to retrofit Comand (MM).

There is a thread on here where someone did something similar, not sure he had reverse camera however he did have navi on a non-multimedia unit. The thread is actually a speaker upgrade post.

Don't know how this person did it but as Diesel Benz said there is no video input on the non MM also the engineering menu does not have the options to enable the backup camera. I know because my brother has the non MM on his W204 and we tried.

from what i can tell with the youtube video, the backup camera is NOT original mercedes product, the people that created the youtube video somehow manage to add video input to the NON-MM screen, if you can figure out how to do that, then adding a backup camera should not be too hard for you, in any case you'll need to talk to your local shop and ask them if they have any ideas how to do it.

so this will only work for someone with Navi? And it's just to add an A/V input?

According to the product description:
"This unit will work in vehicles with or without the factory GPS navigation option installed."

Damn! That is the one I want because it is the one with the iPhone/iPod cable, but the company has disappeared.
They claim "plug-n-play" but you still have to solder two connections.

I found the company. Their website is www.car-tv.com.tw. Looks like they are chinese company. The whole website is in Chinese. You can use Google Chorme to translate the website. But, I do not know how much it will help. If you know anyone who can read Chinese will help.

Good luck...

They emailed me the install instructions, it is in english but it looks like they used google to translate because it doesn't explain the install properly/clearly for me to risk the work (the file is >4MB so cant post it)

NAVVIDEO backup cam/interface for w204 nonMMI

this unit works as advertised. I had it installed into my wife's 2008 C300 non MMI 5" screen, along with navvideo's custom backup cam for w204 (license plate backlit slot). the camera location is closer to the center than the OEM MMI cam (on my C63), so the image is less distorted. but the smaller screen is harder to see than the MMI. The unit also does VIM but I just wanted the cam.

the install is complicated. I want to contribute to this forum - when I have a few hours to spare I'll post all the detailed instruction and pictures.

for now, see the pix...

We also have units that use the same platform, but we program them and set them up for US cars. Full documentation in English with lots of pictures. Also a board sponsor.

Is your system completely plug-n-play? Could you PM the price? Any US dealers?

We are the US dealer/distributor. We don't post the prices in forums, as features and prices change over time and forum posts are static. However, if you go to Cartronics.com and select your car model and year you will see it and a list of options available.
