Anyone have a DIY on C300 headlight painting?
Ive searched but only find people who have done it but havent found any write ups. I did my own on my G35 and it was very easy, just did the oven method (250 deg for 10 minutes and the lens just pulls apart) I did an audi A4 and that will make a grown man cry!!! Im hoping these are easy to do. Any info or links will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

If it works out alright, you will have a paying Raleigh customer on the second set!

Ehh. Who knows :/ Chances are it can't be that much different from the regular bake/heat gun method. Mean looking G by the way. I know its in your other thread, but MAN :O The thing's a beast.

Im hoping i can just bake them and separate them like how the G35's came apart. Very Easy, now i did my buddies Audi A4 and man, the oven wouldnt touch the sealant. I had to go in there with razor blades, screwdrivers, putty knives, just to break the seal. Im hoping i can just take out the screws around the housing, pop em in, 10 minutes later pop em out and open them up no problem....im scared to do it on this intricate car! Thanks for the compliments on the G! I love that car its my baby, but wifey has been begging for a toy so i have to put my attention on the benz!

I may try this, but I just cant envision throwing my nice C300 headlight into an oven... and I've done a lot of dumb things in the automotive world! lol!

i've been doing hondas and acuras blacking out headlights by throwing it in the oven for 10 min at 200 degrees and the reason i do not want to touch my C is because if i screw up i do not want to pay $300 each for a new housing. =(

I've gotten them open but have not resealed them yet. All I know is that my "professional" shop melted a headlight at a claimed 200 degrees - but I call bs, since I've opened 3 other W204 headlight with ease by baking at 200 for about 10 minutes. And once you're in the are no surprises.
1)Are there screws that you have to take of the clear lens?
2) How are is it to get the chrome pieces out once you open the head lights?
3)So does the glue just get tacky enough to pull it apart? Once your done cant you just put the clear lens on without adding any sealant and then when you pull it back out of the oven, press the clear lens on.

Thanks for the quick response! Sounds like I have a new project on my hands.
Used the same paint on my grille, so this should be a good match.
I'm guessing you used some regular RTV or other sealant to put them back together?
