I tried doing a search but couldn't find anything on this specific question.

Which exhaust system is louder and sounds more aggressive?

What is louder? The stock C63 exhaust or C300 with modified X-pipe installed?

No, it's not a joke, I'm just curious to see which one is more aggressive. I've never heard a C63 exhaust before and youtube doesn't really help either. C63's are quite rare over here.

63 exhaust on a 63? definitely gonna be louder

on your c300? i couldnt tell you, but i could tell you its definitely more expensive.

i know even the 63 crowd puts xpipes on their car, so my assumption is that the stock 63 exhaust is still suppressive of sound somewhat

Your comparing a 6.2 liter V8 to a 3.0 liter V6.
The C63 is gonna be way louder and more aggressive then a C300.

3l V6 exhaust vs 6.2l V8? Seriously, people have been known to wet their pants when any of the '63s cruise by. My '55 with x-pipes and headers is damned sweet, but it's not as nice. Try this one at about 40 seconds.

Words have escaped me....

Since you asked though, my C300 X-Pipe's lunch was eaten by the stock C63 exhaust. Not even any room for contemplation.

Thanks for the replies guys. Never really heard or seen any recent AMG model over here where I'm from so it was nice to know the difference. Sadly we're not as fortunate to get to see many C63s or E63s running around town. The C350 isn't even sold here.

I think I understand your question: The C63 exhaust is VERY loud if bolted to a C63 but prob not very loud if bolted to your car.

If you are considering an exhaust mod for your C280 and asking if you should either do the X-pipe *or* the C63 setup... My answer would be the X-pipe would be louder. You could do the X-pipe with the C63 mufflers and that would be a little bit louder, but I don't think it would be enough to justify the expense.

I have X-Pipe on my manual transmission C300 and I love it! It's quiet when you are just driving around town, then sounds like a burning dinosaur when you drop a gear and put your foot down.

Hope this helps
Cheers!

Please consider the give and take before going with an X-pipe. If you are only concerned about sound and not performance, go for it - If you care about performance, which I believe most or all of you do, please do a little research before taking this simple step to increase exhaust note - It directly effects low end torque in naturally aspirated cars.

I did this simple, inexpensive mod on my CTS and found a noticeable difference in low end torque - (holeshot, starting from a dead stop) The car sounds better, but did lose a step...

Better off spending a bit more and putting better mufflers in the *** end...
