HID low beams - compatibility
my left low beam went out and I need to replace it. so I ordered Sylvania HID lights that ARE compatible with my 2008 c class. but I was wondering if I need a conversion kit or any other upgrades to get them to work in my car? I am replacing the original lights that came with the car and I don't have the xeon light upgrade just the standard lights that come with the car.
here is the link to the lights I bought. I hope they will fit, but if not I will get the regular halogen and cancel my order.
would really appreciate the help, thanks

if you want HIDs youd need an h7 hid kit, rather than actual d1s bulbs

It's interesting to note that on the manufacturer's website, Xtreme is promoted for light output, while Crystal's main benefit seems to be the color appearance of the lamp. I am much more interested in output performance than considering the color of the headlamp as a styling element. What is more important to you?

First, standard halogen light had different projection than HID lights. So, they may not concentrate the beam properly. You may see more scattering with HID conversion kit on a halogen headlight projector. This is illegal to do on some states in US due to blinding on coming traffic.
Second is HID light kit requires the ballast for it to work. Which means you need to modify your light box and find the location for the ballast to be secured.
Third is Mercedes have electronics that monitors the head light bulbs. If the conversion kit you put in does not send the correct signal back to the ECU, you will get error message on your dash and the lights will not come on.
I have looked in several places and some do offer error-free system. I have not tried it myself. But, it seems lot of work for little more brightness on the head light. I know, it looks cool. But, I would get blighter H7 bulb which is mentioned on above postings.
If you decide to do it, good luck and have fun.
I had them for almost 6 months now with no problem
It has H1D 35w Osram Xenarc 66147 bulb.
What am I doing wrong? Is there a special twist or something?
