HID low beams - compatibility

Hi,

my left low beam went out and I need to replace it. so I ordered Sylvania HID lights that ARE compatible with my 2008 c class. but I was wondering if I need a conversion kit or any other upgrades to get them to work in my car? I am replacing the original lights that came with the car and I don't have the xeon light upgrade just the standard lights that come with the car.

here is the link to the lights I bought. I hope they will fit, but if not I will get the regular halogen and cancel my order.

would really appreciate the help, thanks

im pretty sure theres no easy way to make those work in your car, without replacing the projectors entirely

if you want HIDs youd need an h7 hid kit, rather than actual d1s bulbs

ok, thought so, I just looked online and it said they were compatible with my car so I bought them but after looking some more, I started to realize that they are compatible ONLY if you got the xeon upgrade. thanks for help.

Im going to take a guess and say stock OEM ones u get from the dealer? I haven't used other halogen lights, and im going to upgrade to HIDs soon. I would say unless you like the light output and color of halogens you should consider HIDs.

I have been very happy with the improvement from stock with Phillips X-treme H7 bulbs.

It's interesting to note that on the manufacturer's website, Xtreme is promoted for light output, while Crystal's main benefit seems to be the color appearance of the lamp. I am much more interested in output performance than considering the color of the headlamp as a styling element. What is more important to you?

I've been interested in this bulb for awhile. How long have you used the set for? Can you give an estimate on the color temp? I bought 5000k LEDs for the eyelids and wonder if it would be a close match.

For the standard H7 replacement, the Philips or the GE Nighthawks. Stay away from the Sylvania H7s.

I've had them for 6-8 months with no problems. I'm sorry, but I don't have a basis for comparison or measurement for color temp...perhaps the manufacturer's web site has further info? That was not an issue for me.

They can cost anywhere from $100 and up. But, you need to be careful with the conversion kit.

First, standard halogen light had different projection than HID lights. So, they may not concentrate the beam properly. You may see more scattering with HID conversion kit on a halogen headlight projector. This is illegal to do on some states in US due to blinding on coming traffic.

Second is HID light kit requires the ballast for it to work. Which means you need to modify your light box and find the location for the ballast to be secured.

Third is Mercedes have electronics that monitors the head light bulbs. If the conversion kit you put in does not send the correct signal back to the ECU, you will get error message on your dash and the lights will not come on.

I have looked in several places and some do offer error-free system. I have not tried it myself. But, it seems lot of work for little more brightness on the head light. I know, it looks cool. But, I would get blighter H7 bulb which is mentioned on above postings.

If you decide to do it, good luck and have fun.

I have Philips Diamond Vision 5000K... Light output and range distance are good... It will also match AZN Optics LEDs if you decide to changed your eyelids to LEDs

I had them for almost 6 months now with no problem

C300 2008 Low Beam flicker and turn off

Low beam on driving side of my car sometimes flicker for a second when car is turned on and then stop working. I have disconnected and reconnected the wire to bulb but it is still doing same. Is it some connection problem or do I need to replace the bulb.

It has H1D 35w Osram Xenarc 66147 bulb.

Has anyone had trouble removing the actual bulb from the housing? I can get the cap off, slide the housing out, but can not get the bulb to come out. I'm afraid I'm going to break it I'm pulling and twisting so hard.

What am I doing wrong? Is there a special twist or something?

I've never attempted to change a bulb on the facelifting c class, but assuming its like other bulbs that aren't held by a clip, just twist counter-clockwise.

It's just a twist and pull.
