18" AMG Rims On C300

Hello Everyone. I'm sure this has been asked before and I googled for hours to find out for sure but never found the exact question i have.

Just bought a 2008 C300 Sedan in Manual trans. Pick it up Saturday. Already looking for something new.

The rims I found are 18" AMG MB 18"x8.5 5x112 - Set of 4 of the same rims.

Will this work? Will I have a problem with finding a tires?

Thanks in advance boys (and gals)

tires shouldn't be a problem. double check the offset, our cars require a high offset.

Thanks Todd. Now the offset i googled but didn't read what all this offset is. I just want to make sure they will work on the car.

If I go to a place who sells tires, they should be able to do whatever 'offset' is required?

Chuck, if you search this forum you should be able to find a lot of threads with Offset, I wouldn't go with an offset less than 45. offset is the distance from the mounting surface of the rim to the center of the rim in millimeters.

So the Rims will work on a 2008 C300 Sedan?
18" AMG MB 18"x8.5 5x112 - on all 4 wheels

I will buy tires in a few months but I just wanted to be sure before I bought the rims that the they would work on the car.

Thanks guys & Todd!

You still don't have enough information. Check the back of the wheel. The offset is stamped into the metal following the letters ET, such as ET50, indicating an offset of 50. If the number is too low for the C Class, the wheels will stick out of the wheel opening.

Awesome! That's what I was looking for. I called the guy and he will check it out for me. Yes, I dont want the wheels to stick out.

Thank you sir!! Can't wait to get into my new ride with AC!

If you go with 8.5 inch rims anything above a 38mm offset will work. 40-45 offfset will be ideal. I ran 35mm for a while but they barely didnt rub, would NOT recommend it. 98% of the mercedes wheels out there WILL NOT work with the new C classes, so you need to be careful. You want a hubcentric wheel 5x112 with a 40ish offset and you'll be good. Those are easy tires to find anywhere.........jimmy

You are talking about running ET35 in the rear correct because 35 up front looks like it would fit if stretched a little no? (for example the wheels i posted in the offset thread)

yeah matt. On my 08 I ran 35mm up front and 35mm in back and 38mm in back too. they were brabus replicas 225/40/18 on front and 255/35/18 on back with the 35mm (slight rub on fabric wheel well) and then 255/35/18 with the 38mm cleared no problem. I ran them for over a year.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I will find out what the ET is on the rims tonight. I'm in no rush to buy the rims, heck, I pick up the car Saturday but I thought the price was right, they and looked good. I'd rather stay with MB rims. I'm happy with them as long as there is no problem and nothing 'abnormal' that I need to do.

Hopefully I just walk up to the tire guy and say, "I need 4 tires, here are the rims, I want the offset to be ETXX, they are for summer only, please dont rip me off"

THese are the Rims:

I just read the ad in your link. There is nothing there to suggest these are original equipment wheels. In fact, he says he bought them, which just sounds like they came from another source. I've seen that design in the aftermarket. I am happily running aftermarket wheels with a proper offset from:

The guy called back. He said they were ET35. Now, by reading the posts above, this 35mm is not ideal . I guess you can't go to 40mm on ET35 wheels.

SO? Should i get them? Help!

Pass....40's is bare minimum...35 is good for E Class with OE spec of 38. Actually, you want to be in high 40s or low 50s. OE C Class Sport staggered spec for 8x18 in front is 50 and 8.5x18 in rear is 54. Check the back of the owner's manual...it's all listed in the tech data section.

Definitely no. Frankly, I would not get anything less than 45 offsite. Even that your rear wheel may still stick out.

If you find any really interesting/nice manual shift knobs, let us know! I am working with the stock aluminum one, and the only leather one I found so far is $300!
