2009 C300 Brake Job?

Hi all -

I know this question has come up tons of times on all forums but i figured i would ask the question because it never really seems to get answered and somehow the thread turns into cleaning wheels.

So obviously i need brakes. The dealer quoted me 1200.00 for brakes and rotors. I refuse to pay that much for this job. I was reading that Akembo brake pads are rated good and will cut down on the "infamous" brake dust.

So basically my question is:

Would you recommend Akembo brake pads?

Do the Akembo brake pads fit on the stock rotors? If not what do you recommend to replace the rotors with that will work with these pads?

Has anyone done this and if you have what have you experienced?

Dealer tells me I needed to change my rear rotors and brake pads very soon and quoted $570 which is similar to your price since u need all 4.

I ordered OEM rotors and pads with sensor for $160, gonna have a friend put them on this weekend.

I had Akebono EUR 1340/1341 pads installed front and rear on original rotors. Performance is excellent and dust has essentially disappeared. Whether or not you need new rotors is not a function of installing Akebono pads...it depends on the current condition of your rotors...how thick, any warpage, whether scored or not from the usage to date. I tried the Akes on my car first, and the results have been so good, I then installed them on our E350 and my son put them on his Saab...all good results.

I have not needed to change rotors, so have no advice there...haven't done the aftermarket research yet and would not have a suggestion, other than to get new OE rotors with the Ake pads.

Thanks Sportstick for your reply... Where did you purchase those pads from? Also have you ever heard of getmercedesparts.com? I was thinking of getting my OEM rotors from there.

as long as your part #s are OEM benz get the best price you can. Alot of guys run ceramic pads to avoid the brake dust, there was a recall on my 2008 when I had it and the dust was terrible at first and after change was still bad. My 2011 is not very good either, its annoying as hell, sticks to my powdercoat wheels like flies on honey

I bought them on Amazon.com. Just search EUR 1340 and 1341 on amazon and they should pop right up. I've heard of the getmercedesparts.com website but have not used them

I was pricing those Akebono's last week and Autozone online had a pretty good coupon that dropped the price well below anywhere else I could find online. You might check there....

Most of the BMW guys I know have switched to these pads because BMW brake dust is legendary. I hated it when I had mine.

I had looked there first as well and the only pads they have online are the Duralast and some European pad the part number for the Euro pad is EUD1340 <----- is this the Akebono part number through autozone?

I've tried that, but the results were still more labor intensive for cleaning than with just getting the Ake pads, in addition to having to wax the wheels!
