Last fortnight I bought my 4 tyres at a reputable tyre store & had the alignment done there. I asek whether they are conversant with the Mercedes alignment.Make sure you receive a printout of the settings before & after together with the Mercedes correct settings ( Target Data).

I wanted a quality tyre that would wear well & was fuel efficient . No soft compound or soft walled tyres for me. I chose Michelin Primacy HP. Will let you know after 50,000 km on how they went!!.I am told by good authority( Glyn) that South African farmers use them on their Mercedes.

Your Um um Um !! is caused by tyre cupping ie uneven wear on the tyre shoulders. This can be avoided by rotating the tyres corner to corner ie changing their direction.( That is if all tyres are the same size!)

Let us know how you go .

I personally like the pilot sport a/s I always got about 40-50000 out of them alittle louder but not that much only could tell with the radio off and window up and trying to listen for them. I was going to try the dws out when my new rims come only cause they make a 265/30r19 other wise I have to go with a 255 or 275 and the dws are suppose to have more tread life but you lose alittle wet traction in the tire rack ratings

The best tire for you depends on what is most important to you. On our two cars, one has Continental DWS and the other has Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. We chose the DWS for wet and light snow performance, as well as quiet ride for my wife's E350. I chose the Pilot Sport for my C for the quicker and sharper dry weather performance, even though a bit noiser. We change both in the winter for Blizzak WS60, but I wanted her to have the best wet weather tire the rest of the year for her safety. She is not a "performance" driver.

Tire Rack has just issued a new road test with some Bridgestone Potenzas doing extremely well. You should read this:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=147

I always buy tires from tirerack.com and have them shipped to their approved local installer in my area. I get the benefit of their choices and pricing, and then just show up for the install.

I agree with your choice as well, but please look again. The slight weak spot of our Pilot Sport A/S Plus is the wet performance, where DWS has been the top performer, until the new test of the Potenzas. The blue bar beats the gray bar in every wet performance chart. Also, note the consumer surveys.

I just mounted DWS on my c300. No complaints here, ride quality is astonishingly better, I got a great deal. And not to mention the AWESOME wet performance. These tires perform better in the wet them some tires perform in the dry, I was really amazed! As far as dry performance, I drive like a "maniac" fast around the on and off ramps. I don't notice any difference versus the stock michelins in the dry performance, which were never bad in my book.

its probably not the bearing at that low of mileage. If your under warranty go to the dealer and have them check it. If your not have a mechanic look at it. May be your rear brake caliper hanging up or something like that

The stock oem cars were either equipped with Michelin Pilots or Continental tires. I lucked out and got my vehicle with michelins. When my sister ordered her 2011 I told her make sure to specify that there aren't continental tires on your car when you take delivery. Sure enough there were continentals on the vehicle and my sister had complained to get michelins. They lets us drive around on the contis for 3 days before they were able to swap them out with another car witht eh same rims with michelin tires. Good thing she specified, because those stock conti's were garbage IMO. Really made the drive crappy and rough. I also heard that the treadlife on them stinks. I have 30k on my stock michelins and they still have WELL over 20k more miles of use in them.

Of course I have the Contis on my 18 stock from dealer. I dont dislike them and I have nothing to compare them to. They are a good looking tire aesthetically

This is about money. The dealer does not recommend DWS because they don't have them. If they had them, they would be very happy to sell them to you.
Go get your DWS tires somewhere else. I think we suggested it before, but you can order them from tirerack.com and have them shipped to a local installer near you. Once they are on your car, go to the dealer or some other independent high end shop with a laser alignment system and have all four wheels aligned. Then, you should be done.

+1 the only reason I'm getting my tires from my dealership is cause I'm on a tires for life plan. Cause the tires there are between 50 and a 100 more a tire

I personally decided to get Pilot Sport A/S, because I have 17" rims and DWS a bit float in compare to Michelins. Turn in, performance is a bit more important for me than comfort. As far as winter and wet, yes DWS better in snow, but Pilot Sport A/S will get me where I need to be in light snow and wet. I do not plan on driving in deep snow and we do not get much snow in NOVA.
